Dine on Dog or Move with Mutt?
Yesterday I had the gut wrenching experience of watching a woman deal with putting her dog down. I was bringing my dog in for an ear infection and she was losing her pet of 18 years. Her emotional display reminded me of how much we love our animals and why the most important element of this campaign is the treatment of canines. The President, of course, has dined on dog. Apparently the killing of dogs is supported by the left whether it is for feast or fancy (Fancy Feast?). PETA was found on inspection to have killed 84% of their sheltered animals within the first 24 hours of receiving them in 2010. How many were actually used for food is still unknown. The President also supported convicted dog killer Michael Vick … Read entire article »

Tolerant Left Vandalizes Church in the Name of Tolerance
Our tolerant leftist friends have brought their tolerance to all parts of the globe, by violence, if necessary. For the latest example, take a look at latest example, via Speak Up… A Portland, Oregon, campus of Mars Hill Church was recently vandalized by a group of homosexual activists. The group smashed nine windows with rocks, including two stained glass windows that were over 100 years old. Normally vandalism like this is anonymous, but this vandalism was meant to send a message. The vandals actually sent an email to a local TV station claiming responsibility for the vandalism and stating that they vandalized the church because “Mars Hill is notoriously anti-gay and anti-woman.” But there is nothing unusual about Mars Hill’s view on homosexual behavior and the … Read entire article »

Content with Caligula’s Coin
It is the nature of man to try and get as much as he can in reward for as little effort as possible. This same drive, practiced in two separate ways, can define two distinctly different people. On one hand, the desire to get much for little can spur a responsible fiscal business person to stay ahead of his competitors in a capitalist market place. One the other hand, it can push one to the street with open but idle hands. Politicians know the power behind these two distinct groups. The former is courted for the power of their money and influence; the latter, for the power of their numbers and open schedule. Few will make it very far in politics without one of these groups supporting you. Wooing both would … Read entire article »

Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Mother’s Day edition)
Happy Mother’s Day! Today we celebrate moms and all they mean and do for us. The history of Mother’s Day can be traced back to ancient Greece when people honored Rhea, the Mother of the Gods in the spring. As time went by Mother’s Day evolved into a Christian holiday that celebrated Mary, the mother of Christ. Below is the history of how we came to celebrate Moms in America. During the 1600′s, the early Christians in England celebrated a day to honor Mary, the mother of Christ. By a religious order the holiday was later expanded in its scope to include all mothers, and named as the Mothering Sunday. Celebrated on the 4th Sunday of Lent (the 40 day period leading up to Easter), “Mothering Sunday” honored the mothers of … Read entire article »

Saturday morning thoughts: What are conservatives trying to conserve?
Some time ago I wrote an article titled “I’m not the same conservative I was five years ago.“ In it I tried to explain my own evolution from being a conservative who blindly followed the establishment narrative to one who no longer was willing to give the establishment a free pass. I learned that big government statists were not limited by party affiliation. In fact many statists can be found in our own conservative party. I decided it was time to take off the party goggles and view the issues through the eyes of an American who loves liberty. It took some time and a great deal of reading to course correct my direction but when I did I realized how wrong I had been about many things. It made … Read entire article »

Obama: Using the gay community
Yesterday President Obama came out in support of same-sex marriage and today the world praised him for making such brave move. A brave move would have been coming out in favor of same-sex marriage back in 2008 when Gallup poll numbers showed only 40 percent of Americans supported it; but that wouldn’t have been the politically expedient thing to do. Instead he waited for more favorable poll numbers on the issue and announced to America and the world how he now supported same-sex marriage and the left lapped it up. Many on the left proclaimed that the President’s position had “evolved” as if those who oppose gay marriage are living in caves still marveling at the advent of fire. But has the President’s position really evolved or is he just … Read entire article »

Zonation: Elizabeth Warren, Heritage, Taxes and Hard Work
When I was traveling to Oklahoma City last week I listened to the whole debate over how Elizabeth Warren checked the Native American block while she was attending school. Apparently she felt that the whopping 1/32 Native American she claimed entitled her. Below AlfonZo Rachel gives his own analysis of the Elizabeth Warren claim. Please take a few minutes to check it out. How about that. For someone who claims that no one got rich on their own changes her tune in an instant when she’s confronted with the charge that she might have taken opportunities away from Native Americans. She now claims she was successful because of hard work. You can’t have it both ways Ms. Warren. Either you don’t believe people can achieve success through hard work or you … Read entire article »

Alarmists Complain About Heartland Institute Pointing out “Inconvenient Truths”
What happens when a Conservative think tank points out that some mass killers, or other bad guys, were also climate alarmists? Alarmists go on a tirade of hypocrisy! Here is some more from the Guardian… The Heartland Institute, a Chicago-based rightwing thinktank notorious for promoting climate scepticism, has launched quite possibly one of the most ill-judged poster campaigns in the history of ill-judged poster campaigns. I’ll let its own press release for its upcoming conference explain, as there’s simply no need to finesse it further: Billboards in Chicago paid for by The Heartland Institute point out that some of the world’s most notorious criminals say they “still believe in global warming” – and ask viewers if they do, too…The billboard series features Ted Kaczynski, the infamous Unabomber; Charles Manson, a mass murderer; … Read entire article »

Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Monday edition)
Well I’m back from my hiatus and it did a world of good. On my off time from the conference I attended I caught up on my reading and listened to conservative talk radio. With the exception of talking to Matt Ross from Conservative Hideout one night, I pretty much unplugged from blogging for the week. I stayed in tune with the weekly news events like Obama’s creepy campaign story of the life of Julia and the UN announcing we should give the land stolen from Native Americans back. I also noticed that the occupy socialists/communists are no longer hiding their intentions. I watched Sean Hannity’s interview with the misguided anarchist that supposedly represents the occupy movement. The man couldn’t even string together one coherent thought; it was a classic … Read entire article »

Renewing America: Patrick Kelly Interview
Most of you know that I am not 100% on board with Ron Paul. I have written both scathing rebuttals to his stances on certain subjects and alternatively supported others. For the most part, I have not praised many of his supporters over the years. Perhaps I just run into the worst of them more often than not. Those that I deem “Paulians” seem to be followers of a messianic figure not unlike Atheists and their Dawkins or Hitchens. This weekend I had a great opportunity to interview a young man running in the GOP primary for the U.S. Congressional 6th District in Kentucky. He is a 26 year-old software developer and entrepreneur from Lexington, KY. He’s the assistant director at Awesome Labs, a not-for-profit focused on helping students start their … Read entire article »

Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Time out edition)
My work is taking me out of the area for a week so I’m going to take a time out from writing. Truth be told I think I need a time out to collect my thoughts. Each day our constitution is under constant assault from both the left and the right. I’m beginning to understand why many on the right see the left as tyrants and many on the left see the right as tyrants, Both political parties ignore the constitution when they see an opportunity to advance their agenda. The State Department made the claim earlier in the week that the “War on Terrorism” is over. Well if this is the case then all the legislation and acts that were enacted to combat terrorism can now be repealed and … Read entire article »

The Department of Labor: Family traditions turned upside down
I was fortunate to grow up in the country. My first paying job was working on a farm. From the time I was 14 until 16 years of age, I spent my summers rotating around the local area between three separate farms working for a couple of dollars an hour haying. I was taught at a very young age that work meant something. It was what men did to provide for their families. Work was so important to my grandfather that his dying wish was when he passed on he would be wearing his work boots. He believed that hard work was the foundation success was built on. When I turned 16 I was hired to work on a township road crew; however I continued to work on part-time basis … Read entire article »

If Cuba was Really the “Workers Paradise,” Why are so Many People Escaping it?
If we listen to useful idiots like Sean Penn and Michael Moore, Cuba is a wonderful land of prosperity, freedom and free health care. However, someone neglected to tell the Cuban people who continue, for some unknown reason freedom, to escape this paradise on Earth. For example, in 2008, 18 Cuban Soccer players came to Tampa for an Olympic qualifying match. However, only 11 ended up returning… (Reuters) – Cuba’s Olympic football team took to the field with only 10 men on Thursday after up to seven of their players defected. Five members of the communist state’s under-23 team defected after their Olympic qualifying game against the United States, a 1-1 draw, in Tampa on Tuesday. … A further two players, both reported to have defected, were absent from the line-up against Honduras … Read entire article »

Is Obama propping up Medicare Advantage until after the election?
The Democrats are screaming that Paul Ryan’s plan to save Medicare will gut Medicare and kill grandma and grandpa. The problem with that argument is that the Democrats have already dealt a serious blow to Medicare Advantage when they rammed Obamacare through Congress back in March 2010. The American Healthcare Education Coalition (AHEC) is a national non-profit, public-interest organization that pushes for free market solutions to our healthcare issues. They analyzed the impact Obamacare would have on Medicare Advantage and below is an except from their study. The cuts to Medicare Advantage begin right away, with payment rates frozen in 2011 at their 2010 levels. The reimbursement rates for doctors continue to decline; between 2012 and 2017, the law phases in a new formula for setting maximum MA payments by region. … Read entire article »

Teeing it Up: A Round at the LINK (Ted Nugent Edition)
It was another busy week in the news cycle. From the final flight of the Discovery on the back of a Boeing Jumbo 747 jet from Kennedy Space Center in Florida to Washington D.C. to the Secret Service sex scandal. The most interesting story of the week in my opinion was Ted Nugent’s comments at the annual NRA conference. I watched the video and to be honest I really didn’t find anything controversial or offensive about his comments. This is a man who got caught up in the moment and said a few things in defense of our constitution and our liberties that raised the eyebrows of many on the left and the Secret Service. He did not issue a direct threat towards President Obama or anyone else in Washington … Read entire article »

19 April 1775: The shot heard round the world
“Stand your ground. Don’t fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war let it begin here.” Those were the words that Captain John Parker told his minutemen on this day 237 years ago. This was the day that the American Revolution and the fight to secure liberty for all Americans began when 77 minutemen engaged 700 British regulars in the village of Lexington just west of Boston. I can only image what was going through the minds of Captain Parker’s men as they gathered on the village green in the early morning hours on April 19, 1775 to face the British regulars; the most powerful army in the world. I’m sure some questioned the wisdom of their actions; however it had become clear to many colonists … Read entire article »

John Stossel is interviewed by Human Events
David Harsanyi from Human Events sat down and interviewed John Stossel and discussed a variety of issues that impact each of us. I thought it was an interview worth sharing. Stossel is a libertarian who believes that the federal government should be extremely limited in their ability to infringe on our rights. In the first video he talks about the failure of government in running things and why people are conditioned to trust in the government. In the second clip he talks about the media bias and why he thinks it’s so bias. Take a few minutes to check out both. As you can see, he was disillusioned with the Democrats at one point in his life. He thought the left would be more accepting of his libertarian views. What he … Read entire article »

Race Convoluting Justice
No doubt, most would agree that the biggest and most reprehensible stain on this nation’s history is centered on its involvement in slavery. It is one of the few reservations that even the strictest “original intent” constitutionalists have with the founders – that we were unable to form a nation with the consensus abolition of such reprehensible actions. There were many who held anti-slavery positions but were forced to abandon that principle for the purpose of forming the Union. If they had held strong, the nation would have been divided or unformed completely. Still, for all the glamour that political weaklings and “non-zealots” put into coming to the middle, it is doubtful that many would applaud the Three-Fifths Compromise. Even after the 14th Amendment expunged the blot that essentially penned slavery … Read entire article »

Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (The ‘Buffett Rule’ edition)
You know what I’m sick of? I’m sick of the President peddling his class warfare crap in an attempt to take the focus off the real problems that are hurting each and every America. He doesn’t want us to focus on things like out of control government spending, unconstitutional actions by his administration, over regulation of our economy, monetizing our debt, the national debt, 8+ percent unemployment, and the rising cost of food and gasoline. He doesn’t want us to focus on these things because when we do we will be able to connect the dots right back to his failed policies. I wish people in America would take the time to do the research whenever he proposes something. Take the ‘Buffett Rule’ for example. If people would just do a … Read entire article »

Anthony K. “Van” Jones: Why we need to take this man seriously
It was late November 2010 when I first heard of the top-down, bottom-up, inside-out strategy on the Glenn Beck show. At first I really wasn’t sure what to think of it. The Tea Party movement weeks earlier had just demonstrated the political powerhouse it had become by helping retake the House in an historic election. Every attempt the left made to counter the grassroots movement failed miserably. It appeared all the signs were pointing in the right direction to take back our country from the radical left and here was Glenn Beck saying not so fast. Below is the clip from the episode to refresh your memory. Former Obama green jobs czar, Anthony K. “Van” Jones who stepped down from that position 14 months earlier was talking about a strategy to … Read entire article »

Matthew 28:1-20 NIV Jesus Has Risen 1After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. 2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. 5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Saturday Edition)
It’s Easter weekend so I decided to run our weekly Round at the LINKs today. It’s been a very busy week in the news as usual. What can I say with this President the hits just keep coming. The week started with the President once again overstepping his constitutional authority by trying to intimidate the SCOTUS; using words like unprecedented and judicial activism if the SCOTUS finds that Obamacare is unconstitutional. By Tuesday he found himself in hot water when the 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals demanded that he explain what he meant by his statements. So Eric Holder had to step it back for the President and on Thursday informed the 5th that YES the courts DO have the authority to strike down laws that violate the constitution. … Read entire article »

Congressman Berg’s response to H.R. 347
A few weeks ago I wrote Congressman Rick Berg to express my concerns about the passage of H.R. 347. I did this knowing I would probably get some standard form letter response back about how this doesn’t restrict free speech and how important it is to protect our elected leaders. Below is the email I sent the Congressman Berg on this matter. Congressman Berg, I’m contacting you in regards to your recent vote on H.R. 347. As you know this bill was signed into law by President Obama on 8 March 2012 after it overwhelmingly passed the House with bipartisan support. It’s now the law of the land and we’re stuck with it until it’s challenged in the courts. The omission of the word willfully not only gives federal agents sweeping new … Read entire article »

AGW Alarmist Compares Reality to Racism, Wants it Categorized as a Mental Illness: Where Have we Heard That Before?
History always repeats itself. And when statists are bent on acquiring power, or then keeping it, they can’t allow something like facts get in the way. So, they have to be creative when attacking truth. Since reality blows the narrative out of the water, they can do nothing with it, so, they attack those that advocate or present the truth. The idea is simple, if someone presents facts that run counter to the narrative, smear them, so no one will pay attention to the facts. Here is the latest example comes from Professor Kari Norgaard, via The GateWay Pundit… Professor Kari Norgaard, from the University of Oregon, has labeled an entire population of people who think for themselves… racists. But, it’s even more absurd than that. If you reject the junk … Read entire article »

Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Mob Rule edition)
We all know that our justice system is not perfect. There are times when it doesn’t always seem like justice is blind. However we are a nation of laws and the law is for the most part applied equally across the board. There are methods and processes that must be adhered to in order to ensure the integrity of our system. We are not a nation that should ever accept a mob rule mentality. We cannot go back to the days of the old west when mobs stormed the jailhouses with torches in hand to pull out the accused and dispense their own brand of justice. When the rule of law no longer matters, anarchy will soon follow. We cannot exist as a nation with a mob rule mentality, … Read entire article »

Obama’s Inferno
Growing up in Northwest Montana, many of my friends worked for the Forest Service during the summer months to either remove old dead growth or to fight forest fires. If there weren’t any fires to fight (there usually were), they would remove the old growth because that stuff just sits in the forest, dries out, and waits for a spark. It all amounts to fuel waiting for a flame. The frustrating part was that environmental lefties from places like New Jersey were constantly fighting the Montana citizens in their efforts to remove the old growth. The people of Montana saw the threat that it posed to their community, but the environmentalist saw it as part of nature that shouldn’t be disturbed. That is, until the forest fire came and burned … Read entire article »

Is the sun setting on our liberties?
I often sometimes wonder if states had another bite at the apple in regards to ratification of the constitution, would they rethink ratification knowing what they know today about how the federal government has positioned itself through interpretation the justify operating beyond its 17 enumerated powers. It’s hard to say because so many people have become so dependent on the federal government and view minor infringements on their unalienable rights as a necessary evil to ensure what they perceive as a secure and safe society. I have argued in the past for the need to convene an Article V convention to correct the wrongs of 16th and 17th amendments and to clarify the commerce clause. The patterns of history
Ever since I can remember I’ve loved history. It was the one subject I excelled in during my high school and college years. I always had a deep appreciation for it because at a young age I realized history speaks to us even if we choose to ignore it. You see history can teach us about life and about us if we’re willing to take the time to open our eyes and examine the past with an open mind. It can teach us about success and failure, love and hate and human nature because the truth is history is the fingerprint of our humanity. When we see clear patterns in history we should take notice of them. When we see the repeat of these patterns throughout history we should learn … Read entire article »

DHS Not Investigating #Occupy, but IRS Clobbers Tea Party?
If you recall, the advent of the Tea Party caused quite an uproar in statist circles. MIAC, and then DHS, declared us all “DANGEROUS TERRORISTS. Conservative bloggers, myself included, noted that we were being frequently visited by DHS. Even though there were no terror plots, and that the protests were peaceful, the Tea Parties were accused of “racism,” and terrorism. Even when they left the protest sites cleaner than they found them, they were presented as the most dangerous movement in all of human history. Then, last October, Occupy Wall Street started. Flexibility is the key…
One of my first supervisors told me that flexibility is the key to success. I asked him what he meant by this and he explained it in the following way. He told me that organizations that were unable to change and move in a different direction in response to changing environments were destined to fail. He pressed that flexibility was needed at all levels so the entire organization could shift and be responsive during times of change. Now that sounds great in an ever changing business environment or in the heat of battle; however when a politician says it in the context of giving something away for nothing, well we should all stop and take notice. Arlen’s Steamy Senate Secrets
When attempting to come up with material for a humorous post few things are more valuable than the Huffington post. It is a gold mine of absurdities that liberals focus on. Their giant headline currently has Arlen Specter’s mug with the sentence, “GOP Hurt ‘Terribly’ By War On Women’s Rights”. Allow me to point out a few amusing aspects of this headline. First, this is a headline that literally quotes one word from Specter and writes the rest in to make it seem like a quote. Is it accurate? Sure, that’s what he meant – but it is somewhat pathetic. “Terribly” Second, it is highly ironic that Specter is being leaned on to promote “women’s rights” after releasing his “steamy memoir” that creepily spoke of Sarah Palin as little more than an … Read entire article »

Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Placing blame and taking credit edition)
Last week President Obama blamed everyone and everything for high gas prices. He traveled to Oklahoma with his side show and smoke and mirrors and proudly proclaimed that he would direct his administration to cut through the red tape to fast track a pipeline that was already approved and on the fast track to be built. So he blames everyone and everything around him except his own administration’s bad policies for the high gas prices and then turns around and tries to take credit for something he had nothing to do with.
