The Healthcare Bill and The Twilight Zone

When I was a kid I loved watching old reruns of The Twilight Zone.  In my opinion it was really a show ahead of its time.  For those of you that have never heard of The Twilight Zone, it ran from 1959 – 1964 and dealt with many abstract concepts.  You couldn’t really categorize the show with one basic genre as it touched on many different, ranging from fantasy to science fiction.  Regardless of the episode it always ended with some unexpected twist that would catch the audience by surprise.  I was recalling an episode titled To Serve Man and realized how much it relates to our current healthcare bill debacle.

The synopsis of the story pretty much ran like this.  An advanced race of aliens come to earth and offers their assistance in helping humanity solve all their problems.  They bring with them a book that is nearly impossible to translate.  Even the people that were extremely skeptical of the aliens’ intentions are finally turned when one of their code-breakers translates the book title To Serve Man.  The aliens keep their promise and solve hunger, cure disease, and bring an end to all warfare.  They have earned humanity’s trust and large groups volunteer to take trips to the alien home world.  Towards the end one of the code-breakers completes the translation of the book and to her surprise discovers the book is actually a cook book on how To Serve Man.

She tries to warn the people before they get on the spaceship and leave for the alien planet by yelling “Mr. Chambers don’t get on that ship!  To Serve Man…it’s a cook book!”  By that time it’s already too late for Mr. Chambers and the others.  The alien pushes him on to the spaceship and closes the door.  The true intentions of the aliens are revealed.  Their promise to solve all of humanity’s problems was designed to fatten humans up before the trip to the slaughter house.  The final segment of the episode finds Mr.Chambers on the alien craft.  He looks at the audience and says, “How about you? Are you still on Earth, or on the ship with me? It really doesn’t make very much difference, because sooner or later, we’ll all be on the menu…’all of us’.”

So you can see how this story relates to the current healthcare bill.  They are promising to solve all of our healthcare problems with a 2,000 plus page bill that no one really knows its content.  They’re jamming it through like it is a matter of life or death, convincing us it’s the best thing for the collective.  The kool aid drinkers are ready to line up like sheep and board the progressive spaceship believing their intentions are good.  As we start to break the code on this bill we discover unsustainable Medicare mandates for the states, lack of coverage for millions, Constitutionality concerns, backroom deals, special favors, privacy concerns, and the list goes on. But they just want to help us.

Do they or are we all being led to the slaughter house?  What appear to be on the menu are our liberties and freedoms and the healthcare bill is the cook book.

I've seen this one twice, not too long ago and when it first showed all those years ago. Like moths to the flame many will march aboard that ship of destruction. I'll taked mine one over easy!!!!

And no matter what we say they will either continue to march or they will be pushed in with the progressives closing the door on them.
