The Ignorance of Chris Matthews: What Does Patriot Mean These Days?

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews’ ignorance about the Constitution and Tea Party movement reached a new level on his show “hardball” when he and far left pal Joan Walsh went after Colin Hanna from Let Freedom Ring.  In an attempt to paint the Tea Party movement as a bunch of non-inclusive racist that embraced the original intent of the Constitution, he and Walsh displayed their progressive fangs as they ripped into the Founding Fathers, the Constitution, and then questioned the definition of a patriot.  It was really disturbing to see.  If you all want to know how the far left or progressives feel about our Constitution and those that wish to keep it scared, all you need to do is watch the following clip.  This is sad but scary stuff.

After watching this it paints a clear picture of what we’re up against.  Trust me when I say that these two ignorant buffoons are not alone in their beliefs and feelings about the Constitution and Americans standing up for it.  Many on the far left are so ignorant about our Founding Fathers and the American Revolution it makes it easy to feed them this anti-Constitution crap.  Matthews was clearly ignorant as to why the Bill of Rights was an essential component to the Constitution.  He didn’t understand why there needed to be a Bill of Rights for the “gun nuts.”  Well Mr. Matthews let’s educate you on the Bill of Rights from a reliable source at

During the debates on the adoption of the Constitution, its opponents repeatedly charged that the Constitution as drafted would open the way to tyranny by the central government. Fresh in their minds was the memory of the British violation of civil rights before and during the Revolution. They demanded a “bill of rights” that would spell out the immunities of individual citizens. Several state conventions in their formal ratification of the Constitution asked for such amendments; others ratified the Constitution with the understanding that the amendments would be offered.

I hope that helped you gain a bit more understanding as to why the first 10 amendments are so important. It protects us from people like you.  Now when you talk about the Constitution and paint it as such an imperfect document while promoting a little healthcare socialism, you will have at least a basic understanding of why it was vital to include a “Bill of Rights.”

Now to answer your question about what is a “Patriot;” the word you don’t like, let’s go to which provides us with two pretty good definitions.

1.a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion.

2.a person who regards himself or herself as a defender, esp. of individual rights, against presumed interference by the federalgovernment.

So at least by the second definition Mr. Matthews I can see why you don’t like the word.

Folks the point of this entire post is to show you all the forces we’re up against.  This is why it’s essential to make sure our friends and children understand the importance of our Founding Fathers and the Constitution.  If people are ignorant as to who these men were and what the Constitution means for individual liberties, then they, like Matthews and Walsh can be easily manipulated by radicals and steered in a direction that is the antithesis of both.

Liberty forever, freedom for ALL!

I saw that part of Chris's show and although I usually brace myself for what's coming this was a shocker—He doesn't even like the word Patriot and believes anyone using it is calling others unpatriotic—he is far, far out there. The rest of his family however are quite conservative.

    Thanks for the comments Ron.

Matthews like many progressive/liberals never had anyone mentor them or at least expose them to the many wonders of the Founding Fathers and the Constitution. If he had, socialism would not have been such an easy sell in his college days. Face it, he was basically brainwashed. It happened to a good friend of mine. After he attended Temple, then moved to California I didn't even recognize him anymore. He said I changed. I was brainwashed by the military and so on. The fact is he never had that foundation built on the Constitution. By the time he got to college he was a clean board ready to be written on by his liberal professors. The same happens to journalist. Many journalist professors are liberal and they peddle their liberal crap like snake oil. Colleges are nothing more than progressive/liberal reeducation centers. Sorry for rambling on.

It amazes me how liberals pride themselves on their intellect, while accusing conservatives as being uneducated backwards nuts. Yet when you question a liberal on the issues and provide evidence that backs up your conservative ideas, they usually avoid, discredit or insult. They are unable to logically debate. You know, more people have probably seen this clip of Matthews here on your blog than who actually watch his show.

    Thanks for the comments Liberty.

You know it's funny you said that about more people seeing the clip here than watching his show. A good friend of mine said the same thing today. He told me to stop promoting Chris Matthews. You're right when you say they promote themselves as such intellectuals, but when confronted with facts they want to change the subject to some sort of emotionally charged rhetoric like racism. The reason I wanted people to see this idiot was to show them just how ignorant the left is about our Founding Fathers and the Constitution. You can't seriously debate someone about the role of government if they don't even know the basics behind the Bill of Rights. He and Walsh looked like uninformed and uneducated fools.

Wow, those are some really scary opinions being thrown around. Let us hope there are enough people in America who are concerned enough to read a history book and remember what our forefathers fought for. Sentiments such as these attempt to erode out original system of government, a well thought out system that was put in place to protect its people from the vary things Chris Mathews is speaking of.

Wow, I knew Matthews was leaning far to the left, but he is really stretching on this one. He kept coming back to the need for an Air Force and the fact that it isn't in the Constitution. I am not sure what that has to do with the price of coffee, but he seems convinced that it shows the Constitution isn't perfect and needs to be "update".

Why is it that everytime someone disagrees with the policies of President Obama, they are always accused of racism. Even though the Mount Vernon statement contains nothing about racism, Walsh and Matthews insisted it is implicit in the statement. They said the same thing about the Tea Party movement because of the strong feelings of state's rights.

Right now, I see a liberal movement that is accusing the Republicans and conservatives of all manner of things, trying to deflect the criticism that is coming in their own direction. Avoid the real issues, you might say.

I used to work with a guy that pointed out all the character flaws of the people around him. He would say that this person is screwing up and then point his finger in another direction when something he was responsible for was messed up. It worked for awhile until management finally caught on to what he was doing. He reached a point where is could not hide his failures. This is what is happening to the liberals now. Chris Matthews is lashing out because that's all he has. He must deflect the focus off the liberals. He does this like most liberals with emotionally charged rhetoric even if it is simply not true. We are witnessing the end of the Democratic Party because the people are being reminded that their ideas do not work.

    Thanks for the comments.
