The Government Isn’t Here To Help

by RightHandMan

Ronald Reagan once famously said that the nine most terrifying words in the English language are, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

Indeed, the government is here to “help”.  They’re here to help the economy, they’re here to help you buy a car, a house, or a bridge to nowhere.  The government is here to help the earth and its changing climate, our immigration problems, and rising health care costs.  There’s only one problem – they can’t help!

I’m not saying this just because I lack faith in the government, but because the evidence is overwhelming.  Health care costs are projected to raise with quality care going down, in spite of the huge bill passed by Congress this year.  The feds built a fence …for a few miles, which has holes in it or under it.  Countless billions of dollars have been spent to study man made global warming and our effect on the environment, but as I saw in the pathetic documentary “I Heart Global Warming” this week, lefties still cry when they see ice melt in Greenland.

Now, after spending $787 billion (787 billion seconds ago was the year 22,000 BC) we are told by top economists that the stimulus didn’t help the economy.  Apparently what was needed was another $17.7 billion jobs bill!  What is amazing is that the market is turning around, in spite of all of this unhelpful government spending.  Why has it grown?  Good old fashioned supply and demand.  Apparently there is still a large demand for industry, and where there is demand someone will supply – unless the government intervenes.

The government simply cannot help us as much as we can help ourselves.  A free people is much more efficient and durable than any agency created on behalf of people.  Our government representatives cannot even help themselves.  How can we possibly justify a government that is staring down the barrel of a $13 trillion debt?  How can we trust something with that kind of debt to have the answers to our economic woes? We cannot, and we must not.

Going back to Ronald Reagan, “In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem.”

And WE are the answer.

The question will be, how many of those who supported Obama in 2008 will admit they were wrong and throw out his flunkies this year and HIM in 2012? Not enough, I fear.

I think that Animal Spirits are at work. The economy is still in bad shape, but by the tune of the MSM thinks are looking up. How convenient that the economic situation is starting to look up in an election year. Good post Right.

Great post. The evidence is in. Big government fails, and fails in spectacular fashion.
