John Fund: Hey Bill Let’s Call Them the "Tea Bag Movement"

This is a video I found on NewsBusters of John Fund trying to convince Bill Maher to stop using the term “teabaggers.”  It’s actually a pretty good exchange.

Enjoy:

Oh by the way, while we were all appalled over the Mexican President’s comments and how the Democrats reacted to his comments on Thursday, another appalling event occurred on that same day in that same chamber.  The Senate by a vote of 59 to 39 passed the Financial Reform Bill.  Yes that’s right; the bill that lays the ground work to dismantle the free market system as we know it was passed on the same day that a foreign leader gave a speech to our Congress chastising the United States and our laws.  Oh the irony.

Four Republicans joined the Democrats in passing this bill.  They were Sens. Scott Brown (R-MA), Olympia Snowe (R-ME), Susan Collins (R-ME), and Chuck Grassley (R-IA).  Hmmm…the same repeat offenders; what a surprise.

Happy Saturday!

Liberty forever, freedom for all!

Why am I not surprised by Snow? I just hope that the bill can be repealed next year before most of the damage is done.

I'm afraid it won't be repealed. If the Republicans were really concerned about this bill and the expansion of government, they would have never allowed it to hit the floor for debate. They had the power to stop it but instead decided to put on a show for the American people by acting like they were going to block it if there weren't some major changes. This lasted for the first few days. They're playing games with us.

Both parties are to blame. The only difference between the parties in my eyes is that one party doesn't want to expand too fast. But in the end they both are for big government. This is unacceptable. All these progressive Republicans need to go.

The last time people laughed at the "Tea Bag movement" there was a war faught… and the people laughing… lost.

You know anonymous it is funny you mention that because during the revolutionary war the British called the colonials "Yankee Doodles" which basically meant country simpletons. They considered the movement nothing more than a movement fill with uneducated farmers and working class people. The colonials took the term from them after the Battle of Bunker Hill and turned it back on them.

Those people calling hard working Americans that want limited government, less taxes, and fiscal responsibility restored have taken a page from the British. I think in the end they will find out that they too are on the wrong side of history.
