Surprise! Zogby survey reveals liberal/Democrats lack understanding of basic economics

Here’s a newsflash! A recent Zogby survey of 4,835 American adults reveal that those adults that self-identified themselves as either liberal or Democrat did very poorly on questions about basic economics.  In fact the conservatives and libertarians on the average incorrectly answered 18.8 percent of the time as compared to the progressives/liberals who incorrectly answered questions on basic economics a whopping 67.6 percent of the time.  So progressives/liberals don’t understand basic economics.  I wonder why this is?

It’s abundantly clear to me that the progressives/liberals in Congress lack understanding of basic economics.  The policies they have put forth have done very little to stimulate the economy and create an environment that is business friendly.  Instead they have opted for crony capitalism implementing regulations that protect the established under the banner of “to big to fail” while creating barriers that block new innovative ideas from entering the market.  They have orchestrated a government takeover of not only our major banks but what was once the proud auto industry all in the name of saving union jobs and Wall Street.  While our economy was hemorrhaging jobs they chose to waste a year and a half passing comprehensive healthcare reform that we cannot afford and does very little to improve the quality of health care.  Now with an economy still flirting with a double dip recession, they are poised to pass a financial reform bill that has very little to do with financial reform.  I don’t need a survey to tell me these buffoons lack understanding of basic economics.  Their actions speak louder than any poll.

So for any progressive/liberal that reads this post let me help you out. There are four basic things we can do now to help give our economy the jolt is so desperately needs.

1. Cut the national corporate tax rate. Let’s show the rest of the world that the United States is open for business and we are a business friendly country. This would entice companies to move their business to America and create jobs.

2. Cut Spending. We need to stop passing bills that fund or create entitlement programs. We also need to take a hard look at spending and shave the budget by 30 percent. If we don’t get our debt under control, we will never see a robust recovery.

3. Extend the Bush tax cuts, extend the Bush tax cuts, and extend the Bush tax cuts.

4. Lastly, when the above three are done, call your elected representative and tell them that you’re granting them permission to take a leave of absence until after the November election. Basically, get out of the way and let the free market do its thing.

Progressives/liberals may never fully understand economics because let’s face it; the free market system has a tough time coexisting with political ideologies that embrace redistribution of wealth, economic, social, and environmental justice.

And we know how progressives/liberals feel about the free market system and capitalism; “Evil.”

Hmmm, that’s how I feel about progressive/liberal political ideology…Evil.

Liberty forever, freedom for all!

You have to be economically ignorant to embrace socialism. This is why they fear capitalism, they do not understand how it works.

I think you just might be right Trestin. When one does not understand a thing they either attempt to figure it out or run from it.

John, I think you missed something. I think they should extend the Bush tax cuts! 😀
