Elizabeth Warren believes the First Amendment Right Needs ‘Dialing Back

Here’s a clip that will turn your stomach courtesy of NewsBuster.  It appears that the person President Obama selected to help set up a new consumer protection bureau, Elizabeth Warren, really isn’t a fan of political speech and would like it dialed back.

Elizabeth Warren: First Amendment Right ‘Scares Me’, Needs ‘Dialing Back’ NewsBusters.org

Our founders believed that the most important aspect of our first amendment rights was the freedom to speak out against our government.  They didn’t make the distinction on whether it was an individual right or an organizational right only that it was right to be afforded to all.  They believed that one of the main paths towards good government was the right to speak freely on political matters without fear of reprisal.  She believes that this is a scary thing in our republic.

Perhaps if the MSM actually did their job and acted as the unbiased watchdog of the republic, we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in.  They have failed us on multiple levels because instead of being the watchdog for the republic, they have become the propaganda machine for the left.  Now more than ever we need to protect the right of all Americans to include corporations and organizations to freely express their political opinions.  It’s what makes America unique and sets us apart from the rest of the world.

The real scary thing is that Elizabeth Warren cannot grasp this basic concept.  And she’s going to set up the consumer protection bureau to protect the “rights” of the consumers…saaaweet!

Liberty forever, freedom for all!

I'm sure she'll still leave us with the right to obey, lol

Good find! You hit the nail on the head, the founders specifically had in mind political speech when they wrote the first amendment. It is unacceptable that there are people in the Obama administration who feel it is wrong to speak out against the government when it isn't a "political season."

This is exactly why I am extremely concerned about her appointment (sort of) to head the new Consumer Protection Agency. She is going to be in charge of writing and enforcing a lot of new rules and from her known statements and attitude, I think it is safe to say, she will not be helping businesses. She can say this is about the consumer all she wants, but if they were really serious about protecting the consumer, they would have gone about this in a different manner. Hearing her talk about dialing back on the 1st Amendment makes me realize that even more.

Thanks for finding and sharing this with us, John.

He seems to continue to select radicals from the shadows of academia to head of key positions in his administration. This for me is more about Obama's judgment than anything else Steve. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks for comments Larry. I agree with you that we need to dig a little deeper on who this person is and what is the foundation of her belief system. If she is ok with dialing back our rights protected by the 1st amendment, what else does she embrace? We'll have to continue to find out and post what we find.
