Video: Greta Van Susteren exposes the left’s mindset

Greta Van Susteren invited Gloria Allred on her show and confronted her with direct questions over the Meg Whitman illegal maid topic.  I must say that after watching the interview I have decided that if I ever need legal representation I would pick Greta over Gloria Allred any day of the week.  During the interview Ms. Allred appeared to be all over the place and at times I found myself questioning her competence as an attorney.  Greta called Ms. Allred out in regards to her comparing her client actions to civil rights activist Rosa Parks.  In my opinion Allred’s defense of this position not only diminished the historical importance of Rosa Park’s courageous acts during the civil rights movement, but insulted the intelligence of most clear thinking Americans.  The video below is about 9 minutes long; however if you want to understand the mindset of the left you need to watch it.

As you can see this clip is very revealing.  It really has very little to do with Gloria Allred or the Meg Whitman issue pertaining to an undocumented maid.  That’s just the tool being used by the left.  It has everything to do with how the left thinks and the tactics they use.  If you carefully watched this video you will see how the left’s mindset is revealed in all its glory.  Basically they disregard facts and go with emotionally charged words and class warfare rhetoric.  They diminish the importance of an act by a courageous individual (Rosa Parks) in our nation’s history and replace it with their own interpretation as to meaning of it and then twist it to meet their own needs.  They are willing to sacrifice anyone to include this maid to push their radical agenda forward with an ends justify the means mentality.  And finally they attempt to redefine law by professing that it infringes on the rights of those that are not legal citizens of this country.  They throw anything at the wall to see if it sticks no matter how far in left field it is.

The Constitution is our document that protects the unalienable rights of the citizens of the United States of America.  Citizenship is defined in the 14th amendment, Section 1 of our Constitution as; All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Title 8 of the U.S. Code Section 1401 defines the following as people who are “citizens of the United States at birth:”

•Anyone born inside the United States
•Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person’s status as a citizen of the tribe
•Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
•Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
•Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
•Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
•Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
•A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.

A non-citizen may apply to become a citizen of the United States. At no time will such a person ever be considered natural-born (unless the U.S. Code is changed in some way). The process to become a citizen involves several steps, including applying to become and becoming a permanent resident (previously known as a resident alien), applying to become and becoming naturalized, and finally taking the Oath of Allegiance to the United States. Children of naturalized U.S. citizens generally become citizens automatically, though they will also not be considered natural-born. There is a time constraint before a permanent resident can apply for naturalization, generally either 3 or 5 years. The other requirements are that there be a minimum length of time in a specific state or district, successful completion of a citizenship exam, ability to read, write, and speak English, and good moral character.

That pretty much clears it up. It states the criteria that need to be met to be considered a natural-born citizen, the steps for non-citizens to become naturalized, and the protections a natural-born or naturalized citizen is afforded under the Constitution. So why are we even having this discussion?  We’re having this discussion because the progressives don’t agree with the Constitution or our current laws on the books and need the courts to change them.  It’s really that simple.

So what’s the problem?  The progressives are the problem.

    Gloria Allred is just another hack leftist doing the bidding of her apparatchik masters.

    That's all this is. Allred has to do what she can to get Jerry Brown in office. It doesn't have to make ideological sense. It doesn't have to even sorta seem logical. It just has to slime Meg Whitman enough to keep her out of power.

    I found myself questioning Allred's intelligence. I heard Mark Levin interview her and she was worse–more scattered, less able to be able to support herself, than she was with Greta. Allred seemed shocked that anyone would question her motives.

    I listened to the interview with Mark Levin TJC and she was all over the place.

    I listened to both interviews and Allred had trouble answering questions from both Mark Levin and Greta. She is a political hack and is grasping at straws to try and take down Meg Whitman using any means necessary. Greta did an excellent job of exposing Allred's true motives and utter incompetence.

    I agree Teresa that this is just an attempt by Ms. Allred to muddy up the waters for Meg Whitman a month out of an election. It's dirty tricks and nothing more. I think the American people are done playing these games and will see through it for what it is.
