Video: Responsibilities of American Citizenship (1955)

I discovered this video on YouTube and found it so interesting that I felt it was post worthy. Professor Clifton L. Ganus lectures on the responsibilities of American citizenship and explains what is required of each citizen to preserve the republic.  This video is a bit dated, but it’s extremely relevant to the current national conversation we’re having today about socialism and communism.  As we witness firsthand the failures of socialism in Europe and South America now more than ever we need to have a national conversation on the merits of these flawed ideologies.   Back in 1955 they appeared to have pretty good handle on the threat they were facing,  How then can we go from treating socialism and communism as the threat they represent to America and our principles to embracing modified forms of both in just 65 years?  How have we strayed this far off the constitutional republic path?  Take some time to watch the the below video.  It’s about ten minutes long but definitely worth it.

The strength is the individual not the collective.  In the next days I’m going to layout why I believe we have so many useful idiots running around promoting socialistic concepts. Perhaps it will help us understand why so many good people have been duped by a corrupt and flawed ideology.

Liberty forever, freedom for all!

    Great video and still relevant today! So often today people worry about what they are entitled to and forget that they have an obligation and a reponsibililty to uphold by virtue of being an American citizen.

    This reminds me of my year of Civics in High School. But that was some time ago in middle America. I doubt you would be allowed to show this now. To encourage “Spiritual Growth” as mentioned? The ACLU would have the school in court.

      The ACLU with the exception of the unions has been the single most destructive force in terms of rot within. They both have chipped away at the principles that are the cornerstone for our constitutional republic. What is truly sad is that we the people have allowed it to happen.

    I’ve seen this video before. It’s very good and well worth the time to watch it. I read a book a while back by John A. Stormer. Here’s a short bio on him from wikipedia;

    >>In the 1950s, John Stormer became disillusioned with the political candidates and philosophies that he was asked to support. In 1962, he left his career as editor and general manager of a leading electrical magazine to begin an intensive study of communism. With what he learned, he wrote the book None Dare Call It Treason which he claims has sold seven million copies, although the book never appeared on any best seller lists. The book argued that the United States was losing the Cold War because it had been heavily infiltrated by Communist subversives.<<

    Funny how some people back in the fifties had these pinkos figured out better than we do.

      Yeah KS they had a pretty good bead on these dangerous organizations back then. Today we treat them like the chess club…no big deal. How wrong we are.

    Great video! I believe that apathy is the number 1 threat to America. I also believe that the progressives are promoting socialism and apathy in a coordinated effort. Progressive politicians do not want citizens to know their rights.
