It’S tHe EnD Of thE WoRld aS We KnOw iT…

How many of you remember the character Exidor from the 1970s TV show Mork and Mindy.  He was the misguided leader of an end of the world cult called the Friends of Venus.  His most favorite line was, “We’re all doomed!”  Have you noticed lately there appears be a resurgence of the Exidor mindset  and it’s running wild.  The modern day equivalents of the Friends of Venus are running around yelling “We’re all doomed.”

Indeed we live in dangerous and trying times; however what’s happening in the world in terms of natural disasters has happened before and will happen again.    It’s not caused by global warming, global cooling, or even aliens; it’s cyclical.  We have had massive earthquakes, powerful volcano eruptions, large asteroid impacts, and changing weather patterns over the course of our planet’s history and it’s still here.  Now I know this doesn’t fit nicely in the end of the world theory so many seem to be prophesying about as of late.  It’s just too boring of a theory and makes way too much too much sense.  They would rather embrace the half cocked concepts, junk science, zodiac signs, and even the Maya calendar to defend their misguided position.  If you present scientific facts about the natural occurrence of these events throughout history, they roll their eyes at you like they’re privy to some secret knowledge you do not have access to.  So instead of fighting these half witted morons, I have decided to dedicate this post to them.

    There is quite a bit going on all around the globe and it almost seems as if the whole world is on fire lately between the middle east and Japan. But as you said, this has happened throughout the ages and we have always pulled through. It is a good think we have strong leadership to pull as thro…..nevermind. :)

      We must always respect the power of nature, but we also must remember that this old world has seen its share of natural events. It has been shaped by it. I’m with you on the leadership deal. We could be in trouble on that end of the spectrum. Thanks for the comments Steve.

    Mother Nature does what she wants, when she wants, bcause she wants. Nobody can change her nor can anybody predict what she will do next. Good one, John. A little levity is good for the soul.

    Unfortunately, Mankind can now achieve what was previously impossible. The total destruction of mankind. Doomsday Prophecy is now possible. The world can indeed end in fire. And it won’t be Mother Nature.

    What’s so amazing is that the whole island of Japan shifted eight feet and the Earth shifted on it’s axis over four inches. But in the overall scheme of things, this event was just another “small” occurrence among many that have shaped our home, planet Earth.

    Aliens? Nah, they were driven away by the signals from MSNBC. I guess they can’t tolerate that level of failure.

    Asteroid or comet? Nah, we’ll shoot Rosie O’Donnell at those, obliterating them completely.

    Yellowstone Super volcano? Nah, we’ll stuff Michael Moore (Jabba the lib) into the crater. Maybe we’ll stick his head into the hole. He’s used to that.

    Recently, it seems like whenever a disaster occurs people overreact and treat this as the new normal. For example, people are freaking out over the nuclear disaster in Japan, but how many earthquakes, tsunamis, and nuclear problems happen at the same time? What is the likelihood of all three disasters occurring at the same time again? Probably what 1 in a million?

      It is a rare occurrence Teresa. I just don’t believe that it’s some sort of a precursor to some type of apocalyptic end. It’s seems like there is a growing number of these end of worlders that do see it as such. I don’t buy it.
