Money With a Chance of Murder

“We must pass the bill so you can find out what is in it”

These are the famous words from then Speak of the House Pelosi in response to the concerns regarding Obamacare.  The thousands of pages of legislation were steamrolled through Congress giving nobody who voted on the bill time to actually read and digest it.  Flippantly she dismissed the unease of the American people in the name of urgency.  They painted an America where people were dying in the streets – we needed this bill quickly to stop the epidemic!  It was under that banner that the promise of transparency fled like a bat out of hell and we’re still trying to figure out what is in that monstrosity.

Well, it wasn’t just Obamacare that was passed quickly under the name of urgency; Obama’s stimulus package had to be hurried through Congress so that we could save the nation from a financial meltdown.  This bill was rushed so that we could finance all of those shovel ready jobs, keep banks like Freddy Mac from going under, and keep the unemployment below 8%.  In the end, none of that was very successful was it?  Still, our Congress passed it without having the opportunity to read and review it.

Now, in spite of all of the countless failures that stimulus package had in it, there was one section that goes beyond money.  $10 million dollars was set aside for the Gunwalker/Fast and Furious operations in Mexico via the stimulus package.  Did anyone ask what these operations were?  Did anyone question why we had secret operations getting funding in an economic stimulus package?  No.  Who in the world would care about $10 million dollars in a bill that included hundreds of billions in spending with only a few days to do so?  Nobody.  Apparently you can’t check those things out until you pass the bill.

Well, that oversight mattered to Brian Terry and his family.  Brian was murdered by the guns used in the botched operations, paid for by the $10 million from the stimulus.  I would love to hear Ms. Pelosi sit down with his family and use her stupid excuse as a scapegoat for her vote for the bill.  “Why did you vote to fund such an operation that would lead to the death of my husband?”  “Well, I didn’t know it was in there.  I had to pass the bill to find out what was in it”.

Now, the investigation is looking more and more like these operations went all the way to the President.  He, of course, isn’t helping at all but claiming complete ignorance.  Isn’t that interesting?  We have an illegal operation that sells weapons across national borders and is funded by the president’s stimulus package and the leader of our nation and security has no clue.  Apparently his DOJ has no knowledge either, though Mr. Holder was bragging about the operation in Mexico just months prior.  In fact, nobody knew about it except the poor little guys who decided to speak out.

The whole thing stinks.  We have a president that will not take accountability, a Justice Department that stands in the way of justice, a Congress who approved the blood money…Oh, and an American family wondering why their loved one will never come home.  Did you ever imagine that you’d live in an America where the question, “Is there anything in this economic package that could lead to the murder of Americans” would be a legitimate concern?  Did you ever think the answer “We’ll see” would be our government’s response?

This is a scandal of epic proportions and there is no doubt in my mind that this goes all the way to the top and it is made all the more horrible by the fact it was funded in the stimulus package. (What did this have to do with stimulating the economy anyway?) We deserve answers to this, and Brian Terry’s family deserve answers, but all we are getting is a massive government coverup. I want to see people end up in jail for this.

I’m with you Steve. When the President is doing nothing but stonewalling the investigation then you can be sure that he’s got something to hide. Why wouldn’t he want to get to the bottom of this?

It goes without saying that if this had happened under a Republican president he would have been impeached. But since it’s the MSM’s man-crush I guess we’ll give him a pass.

It would have at least had numerous documentaries made about how that republican president was doing it for his own profit – and probably with the cooperation of oil companies.

This is a story that makes Watergate look wholesome and insignificant. Yet not even fox is giving it the attention it deserves.
