Case of the Mundays 9-19-2011

Do you see the contrast? It’s right about now that John is thinking of Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned.

I read the funniest thing today on the HuffPo – a liberal promoting smaller government.  Of course, not for us, but for Europe.

There’s something scary about naming a tax plan after a billionaire whose hands are covered in the grime of manipulating government for his progressive agenda.

What is more frustrating, the fact that the Solyndra scandal happened, or that we have been subsidizing the failing green businesses for years and just now catching on?

On Foxnews Sunday, Democrat Evan Bayh supported the financial support of Solyndra and their type.  His reason?  China heavily subsidizes the solar panel industry, so we must as well.  This typifies the ignorance of the Democratic Party.  If China is going to pour all of their money into solar energy, then let them.  They will make them cheaper than we ever could and more affordable for us to take advantage of later.  It will save us money in purchasing, save us money in subsidizing, and accelerate the precious alternative energy technology.

Governor Reagan, when running against President Ford in the GOP primary was asked why he became a republican.  His basic response was that the world changed so drastically that his political eyes were opened accordingly.  When we look at some of those in this current crop of presidential nominees it is worth considering that the times may have changed their perspective as well.

“Shared sacrifice” is important…which is why I think Congress and the President should completely dump their pay and benefits until they can get in the green.  The President is already a millionaire, why does he need to get paid at all with tax revenue, live in that nice mansion, fly private jets, etc. when we need such a top heavy sacrifice?

And now a Munday Moment in the form of a lesson on wealth redistribution… from the Brits!

Amen. This is a fundamental economic concept that escapes progressives. There are numerous other areas where we have a distinct advantage. Take the statist boot off the necks of job creators and the market would discover them and put Americans to work.

Meanwhile, we’ll take those cheap solar panels that the Chinese government partially paid for. I see it as getting a little something back from them.

Instead we will dump billions into an industry that we will eventually lose in for the sake of feeling better about ourselves. You cannot base business investment on moral inclination alone.

      Thanks for the comment.

Ah yes. This redistribution of the wealth is a tricky business. When the poor become the rich it’s time to change horses, isn’t it?

Interestingly, those who receive from work of the wealthy will forever be “victims” unable to keep wealth because they don’t know how to create or grow wealth, only receive it. Ultimately the wealthy aren’t replaced, but forgotten.

      Thanks for the comment.
