Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (The Berg Reply Edition)
Last week I received a reply from Congressman Berg about President Obama’s unconstitutional appointments from a few weeks back. There was a great deal in the letter about historical precedent and sending President Obama a letter to express their disapproval. To be honest I was very disappointed. I published the letter here if you want to read it. Does it make me an idealist to believe that when you have a sitting President who completely ignores the oath he took to support and defend the constitution there should be more consequences for his actions than a letter of disapproval? Even though our elected officials don’t treat it as such, the constitution is still the law of the land and the President’s actions in this matter violate the law. This is not about Republicans or Democrats. It’s not about left or right. It’s about America and the principles that built her. To inform me that you’re going to send a letter to the President or create a House resolution to express your concerns over his actions is unacceptable. This does nothing to address this violation and there is certainly no teeth in the action.
The other night during the State of the Union address, the President had the audacity to flaunt his appointment of Mr. Cordray in front of the very body of government he illegally bypassed. This is the body of government that represents both the states and the people and by bypassing it he ignored the will of both and that’s unacceptable in our republic. What was even more pathetic were the number of representatives and senators who gave him a standing ovation when announced the appointment. I mean are these people really that stupid; applauding a President who ignored and bypassed their constitutional authority. Maybe the reason they felt the President did nothing wrong is because the constitution has become nothing more than an after thought in D.C. these days. This needs to change. We need to start electing people who revere the constitution and who take their oath seriously. This new mindset can help set a new tone in Washington; however it cannot happen without us. We need to start expressing our concerns to our elected officials and let them know that the constitution still matters to the people. This is why I felt it was essential to write the man who directly represents me and this is why I encourage you to do the same.

John:; You keep forgetting that Obama is a Constitutional “scholar”. I’m sure he must have read it sometime? Maybe not.
Thanks for the link!

Reading the pundits in the know, Obama’s unconstitutional appointments could very well meet a court challenge or two. I pray they do and that he is smacked down. that’s the only way to stop this rampant government illegality.
Silverfiddle recently posted..Fear-Driven Economy
Well I think it needs to be challenged and challenged soon. I also think congress has a great deal of authority here to do something. The can defund at a minimum the NLRB.

Well said, Mr. Carey. It feels as though our concerns go unheard, but we must follow your example and speak our minds anyway. We may never know the cumulative effect, but we can sleep better at night, knowing we’ve done what we can.

Thanks for the link John. I agree with that it is disgusting that the Democrats in the Congress would actaully give the president a standing ovation for violating the constitution and I also agree that this shows us that the Congress really doesn’t think the constitution binds them any more. We have let them get away with this for far to long, so we are to blame for this and it is beyond time for the people to hold our elected officials accountable for their actions. Until we do so we can expect more of the same.
Steve Dennis recently posted..Gunrunner: New documents released about Fast and Furious call into question Eric Holder’s original testimony
The standing ovation tells you just how ignorant they are or it tells you just how much they dislike our constitution and the limits it places on them. Either way these people must go and the only way they go is through the election process. And the only way people wake up and vote them out is by educating them about liberty and the constitution.
