It’s time to drop the contraception debate and focus on what Obama owns
One of the most frustrating things for me is to see how easily the left lures our side into debates that have very little or nothing to do with serious problems we are facing as a nation. In the last three years our national debt has increased by $5 trillion, we have lost our AAA credit rating, the FED has monetized our debt causing value the dollar to plummet, unemployment has been at 8+ percent, gas prices have skyrocketed, a record number of banks have closed, the housing market is still flat on its back, massive regulations have been implemented, the EPA is out of control, scandal after scandal is being uncovered, and the country has never been more divided. This is the world the President owns and this is the world each of us feels every day. And yet the left has managed to steer the narrative towards birth control and contraception. They have managed to make this election about social and not economic issues. Take a look at the featured weekly video. David Gregory actually had the nerve to ask Eric Cantor to tell the Republican candidates not to blame Obama for the rising gas prices.
This is what the left needs in order to deflect our attention away from the real problems hurting Americans. They need us talking about contraception and birth control because they know these are emotional issues and emotional issues are always a winning hand for the left. Yesterday I left the following comment at America’s Watchtower. My good friend Steve wrote an excellent article about basically the double standard we face; something we will always face. Please take a few moments to read it. It captures the entire point of this article.
Time and time again conservatives get lured into the debate that the left wants us to have. They don’t want the narrative focused on rising gas prices, Obamacare, the national debt, our terrible fiscal policy, inflation, unemployment, corruption, fast and furious, failed loans to solar panel companies, or any number of other terrible policies that are ruining the country. A few months ago when George Stephanopoulos asked Mitt Romney a bizarre question about states’ rights and contraception people scratched their heads because they didn’t know where this kind of question came from. They weren’t privy to the insider knowledge that Stephanopoulos had, so they were caught off guard.
Fast forward to today and we now understand why Stephanopoulos dropped this contraception bomb on our leading candidate during the debate. He wanted what the left sees as the eventual nominee to commit himself and say that he believed states had the right to ban contraception devices because he knew that this topic would be front and center a month later when the Catholic Church protested the Obamacare mandate that forces the church to go against their teachings and purchase contraception for their employees. Shame on the GOP because they should have known better in regards to Stephanopoulos. Mr. Stephanopoulos is nothing more than a Democratic operative who has inside knowledge of what the leftist planners behind the scenes are up to. He should have never been allowed to moderate the Republican debate and in the future he should never be permitted to moderate another. In fact I will go one step further and say that all conservatives should teach this man a lesson by refusing interviews with him. After all he is the opposition and he stands for everything we stand against.
Now our heavy hitters in the conservative world who were lured into this narrative have to apologize for words said over an issue that is simply on non-issue in the scope of things. It makes the conservatives look bad and this is exactly the image the left wanted to portray. We fell for it again.
This is what they do folks and we always fall for it. They lure us in and then control the narrative. They don’t want us talking about the unemotional facts and figures that Obama owns. They want is talking about emotional issues that are not related to the current problems our nation is facing. If we start talking about the national debt, unemployment, the value of the dollar and gas prices the left and Obama loses again and again. If we make social issues the narrative we are fighting the left on a battlefield of their choosing and we usually end up losing. It’s time drop the contraception debate because if a Republican wins the Presidency it will end up being a non-issue because all the candidates have promised to repeal Obamacare. The key is taking back the Senate and the Presidency and we achieve this by keeping our focus on the issues that Obama owns. It’s really that simple. It’s time to be proactive instead of reactive and meet the left on a battlefield of our choosing. This battlefield is one with unemotional facts and figures.
Liberty forever, freedom for all!

Thanks for the link and the kind words John. You are exactly right; the left has managed to change the debate and take the focus off of Obama, and the Republican candidates have fallen right in line. This is obviously a diversion from the main issues and it was designed to distract the American people from what is really important and it has worked. We need to get back on point and the Republicans need to refocus and shine the light on Obama’s policies or there is no chance of defeating Obama in November.

Very true Steve. If we don’t get back on track and focus on the problems that Obama owns and make sure the American people know that Obama owns these problems, I fear we will not be able to defeat him this November. We can’t allow the left, using the MSM to deflect the attention off of what really matters.

You’ve got that right John. We are facing an uphill battle because Obama has the media on his side and there are still too many people who get their news from the MSM and don’t question it.

Part of the problem is the “mainstream” conservative media. They jump into it hook, line, and sinker. If I were a less suspicious person, I would chalk it up to ignorance, but since I started following the money around these guys, I think it might be part of a tag team L-R disinformation campaign to keep the American people from learning about the Fed and how it is the source of all things anti-American.
The reason grassroots conservatives start talking about it is because these talk radio people go on and on about nothing while our dollar is being devalued before our eyes. I wish more people would get a clue.

Well said RM. I have made the same observation with the conservative talk radio. They tend to jump right in and take the bait. Maybe you’re on something to something about the money trail and the FED. It appears no matter the Left or Right both sides want to steer us away from the FED.

Sex sells… I agree with your analysis of these diversionary tactics and I agree with your recommendation as well. We do need to be talking about Obama’s catalog of horrible failures, the Chevy Dolt being just one.
We do need to talk about Obamacare, but from a natural rights perspective.
Silverfiddle recently posted..You Don’t Have a Right to Other People’s Stuff
It does indeed. Obamacare is what it is. We should be using Obamacare as a tool to remind people of just what this President crammed down our throats.

The left will always control the debate as long as the RINOs control the “opposition” party. Wake up RINOs. This isn’t the ’90s. There is a thing now called the internet. We can fight back!

The RINOs are in bed with the left and you’re right they will control the debate as long as this is the status quo. This is why we must work to primary out some of these RINOs. We can’t lose sight of this. The overall health of the conservative movement is just as linked to getting rid of some of these RINOs in November as it is in making Obama a one term President.

We are often times our own worst enemy. Time after time we fall into the same trap of letting the left shape the debate. Will we ever learn?

I believe we will learn Jim. But it’s going to take a monumental effort from us to keep the focus on the real issues. It’s also going to take us calling these folks out when its warranted.

Well said. I’m so aggravated by easily the right is led by the nose each and every time. We just never seem to learn.
oops, make that “so aggravated by how easily” /must have coffee!

We will learn. And each and every conservative blogger will play a role in this process. We must keep the heat on the President by shaping the narrative.

Both you and Steve are absolutely right. The Stupid Party is allowing the narrative to be managed for them.
They are indeed Matt. That’s why we must not be afraid to call it like we see it.

Well, if there is any good news it’s that the tea party mindset is alive and well in the blogosphere, and people are getting angry. Maybe that’s what it will take. I’m trying to find some kind of silver lining.
