Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Mob Rule edition)

We all know that our justice system is not perfect.  There are times when it doesn’t always seem like justice is blind.  However we are a nation of laws and the law is for the most part applied equally across the board.  There are methods and processes that must be adhered to in order to ensure the integrity of our system.  We are not a nation that should ever accept a mob rule mentality.  We cannot go back to the days of the old west when mobs stormed the jailhouses with torches in hand to pull out the accused and dispense their own brand of justice.  When the rule of law no longer matters, anarchy will soon follow.  We cannot exist as a nation with a mob rule mentality, but that’s exactly what we’ve been seeing in regards to the shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman in Sanford Florida.

Professional agitator and outsider, the good Rev. Al Sharpton, has now injected himself into this local matter and is threatening to escalate civil disobedience if the Sanford Police Department doesn’t arrest George Zimmerman soon.  He’ might a well be passing out the torches to the mob as he gets them ready to dispense their own justice.  And what’s really irresponsible is he issues these threats knowing just a week before the new Black Panther Party placed a $10,000 bounty on George Zimmerman’s head.  Mr. Sharpton should be ashamed of himself…but he’s not.  Instead he’s perfectly content dividing the community across racial lines.  This is the difference between Al Sharpton and Dr. Martin Luther King.  Dr. King was about uniting people no matter what the color of their skin while Mr. Sharpton is about dividing people based on the color of their skin.  When you look back at Dr, King’s marches you see a large number of white people marching with him because his words and actions broke down the barriers of skin color.  His words were about people being good and respecting each other no matter their race; I would have marched with Dr, King.  He saw a vision of an America that fulfilled the promise and charge that all men were created equal and they were endowed by their creator were certain unalienable rights.  Dr King’s America is an America we must all strive to achieve, not the America that Mr. Sharpton is promoting and this is why Mr. Sharpton is nothing more than a race baiting agitator who promotes division and mob rule.  This is why we should all reject Mr. Sharpton’s vision of America because his vision tears America apart.  If there is enough evidence to support the arrest of George Zimmerman for the murder of Trayvon Martin I will be all in.  But the one thing we can’t permit in America is for the mob to be making that decision.  We need the process to work.
