Brett Kimberlin Day: Link Post

I have spent the better part of my life supporting and defending the constitution.  I did it for 23 years while serving in the military and I still do with my current employer.  First off I’ll admit I do not know a great deal about Brett Kimberlin.  Other than a few articles I’ve read about the man I had no idea who this person was until Robert Stacy McCain of the blog The Other McCain was forced into hiding because of threats from Mr. Kimberlin.  These threats were in response to Mr. McCain blogging about Mr. Kimberlin’s criminal past.  Now to be honest I do not know how deep this story runs, what I do know is it is completely unacceptable to employ intimidation tactics to stifle free speech in America.  We do not accept it when the government tries to do it and we certainly should not accept it when a private citizen employs these tactics in an attempt to stifle free speech.

As I said I’ve spent the better part of my life not only defending Mr. McCain’s right to expose the truth, but also Mr. Kimberlin’s right to defend himself.  Intimidation tactics used to quiet opposing views has no place in America; in fact it’s despicable.  It’s the antithesis of every thing our founding fathers stood for and must be rejected by the people.  Hitler’s “brown shirts” employed these same tactics to intimidate opposition forces in Germany in the 1930s.  Is it slanderous to write about someone’s criminal past if it’s a matter of public record?  The answer is no.  So today conservative bloggers are standing by Mr. McCain and standing up for freedom of speech by writing about this story.  I too feel like I have a responsibility to support these actions and this is my small contribution to the effort.  Below are a variety of links to articles from conservative bloggers who are standing up for free speech and liberty.  Please take the time to visit their sites and read these great articles.
