Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Ryan edition)
Yesterday I got caught up in life and did not have an opportunity to post my weekly’ ” Round at the LINKs.” So I’m a day off but better late than never. Today I want to touch on Paul Ryan a bit. I know most of my fellow bloggers have already posted great articles on this topic. I want to weigh in with my own two cents. As most of you know during the Republican primary I supported Ron Paul. I supported Ron Paul because I believe it’s going to take something radical to change the business as usual crowd mindset in D.C. and get us back to our founding principles. Back during the primaries the only candidate that offered this stark contrast was Ron Paul. Love him or hate him you can’t dispute that he was indeed something much different than the average politician on stage. The truth is the politician I wanted to see running opted to sit it out. That man was Paul Ryan.
You see Mr. Ryan in my opinion strikes the right balance between the Tea Party and the establishment. There is a difference between being one who carries the water for the establishment and one who uses the establishment to advance the conservative agenda; Ryan is the latter. He’s a game changer. When Republicans were hiding under their desks after the 2008 election Ryan was standing on desks demanding we get our fiscal house in order. He promoted a bold initiative called the Roadmap for America’s Future. Even President Obama praised Ryan’s plan as a serious proposal. The roadmap was his first attempt at raising people’s awareness about the oncoming debt crisis and fiscal cliff we were heading off of if we didn’t reform entitlement programs and restructure our tax code. He was one of the first politicians who said Washington will not be able to keep its promises if they didn’t address unsustainable entitlement programs.
In 2011 Ryan introduced his Path to Prosperity plan; a watered down version of his Roadmap for America’s Future. Ryan learned that any proposal to restructure entitlement programs would have to be modest. Washington politicians didn’t have the stomach for it and the left used his plan against him in regards to Medicare. They came out and hammered him for his proposed changes to preserve Medicare by allowing younger contributors the choice to opt out if they were 55 years of age and younger. Politicians react to the talk of privatization of entitlement programs like vampires react to holy water; it burns and its painful. This why they ran commercials showing a Paul Ryan look alike pushing grandma off the cliff even though his plan did just the opposite. On Saturday when Mitt Romney announced his selection for a running mate was Wisconsin Representative Paul Ryan the game changed. Ryan is indeed a strong conservative who not only compliments Romney but is not afraid to get in Obama’s face. He has a deep understanding of the dire financial straits we’re in and what we need to do turn it around. I think Romney made a smart choice by going with Ryan. Ryan is skilled at communicating conservative principles in a manner that is easily understood and that will be key. He’s a story teller and everyone likes a good story. Now on to the LINKs.
Below are links to great conservative articles on Paul Ryan. Please take a few minutes to check them and if they have them hit their tip jars. These good people work hard each day to bring you the truth. Show them you support their efforts by hitting their tip jars. So tee it up and enjoy another SENTRY JOURNAL round at the links.

You’re very welcome Jim. Obama needs to go. It’s time to address our fiscal concerns and Ryan is the smartest guy in the room.

The leftwing loons are already going off the hook over Romney’s pick, so it must be a good one…

Indeed they are already going off the rails. This tells me he was the right pick.

I am very pleased that Romney picked Paul Ryan. That was a savvy and economically so IMO. Thanks so much for the linkage, John. Hope you have a wonderful week.
FYI: I don’t know how much I’m going to be posting til my surgery on Sept. 10 and whether my posts will be politically thoughtful or not due to my having to endure a major increase in pain. Plus, now my pain meds seem to not be working as well as they had been. I may just end up doing reposts or posting articles or parts of articles or something. Its just hard for me to think when I’m in so much pain. If you or anyone else would like to post on either of my blogs or if okay for me to repost others’ works with linkage that would be great too. God Bless.

Thanks for the link John! I like this pick more and more every day, I didn’t think Romney had the guts to make a bold decision like this. But he did and that really impresses me. He went for a man who has actually taken a stand on a tough issue and while the msm will hammer Ryan for it they were going to attack Romney’s choice no matter who it was, so why not go for a man of substance?
That’s a good way to put it Steve. They were going after his pick no matter who it was so why not stick it out there. I think he made a great decision.

Thanks for the link, John. You have articulated exactly how I feel about Paul Ryan and why I believe he is a good choice for Mitt Romney. I do not agree with all of his votes, but I do think he is trying to take a stand. At this point in the game, that is exactly what we need.
Thanks Larry and you’re welcome for the links. It was a good choice in my opinion and I’m very pleased.

Thanks for the link! It is important to remember (and for us to remind people of this fact) that Paul Ryan is a real intellectual who has for several years put forward policies to deal with the major political issues facing our nation. This stands in marked contrast to Obama/Biden, who have spent the past 4 years fiddling (or campaigning) while Washington burns (burns money, at least).
You’re very welcome. I think we’re beginning to see how valuable Mr. Ryan is to the campaign.
