Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Hillary edition)

Whenever the left wants to protect someone who gets caught up in a scandal they simply stop talking about them and divert our attention towards something else.  This has been the case with Hillary Clinton and the Benghazi scandal.  Two and half months ago terrorists murdered four Americans in Benghazi, Libya on the anniversary of 9-11.  As information about the attack began to trickle out, it was discovered that Ambassador Stevens notified the State Department that the security situation in Libya was rapidly deteriorating and pleaded with them to add additional security to their detachment; additional security that never materialized.  This revelation in the early fact finding phase of the investigation shifted the attention of those seeking the truth squarely on the State Department.  Hillary Clinton, along with Susan Rice and President Obama peddled the false narrative about the attack being spontaneous and related to some obscure Youtube video.

For weeks they tried to sell this lie to the American people.  Finally when it became clear that this was indeed a planned terrorist attack the narrative they worked so hard to sell began to turn on them.  Rumors were flying that the Clintons were actively seeking legal counsel just in case they were going to try and pin this on Hillary.  And in my opinion these rumors of legal counsel being sought by the Clintons definitely sent a message to President Obama; Hillary wasn’t going to take the fall without a fight.  Additionally it would have been political suicide for the President to have left Hillary holding the bag on this scandal a month before the election.  Love or hate her, Hillary Clinton is adored by the progressive left and they would have been furious with Obama if he allowed her to take the fall.  The left simply could not allow this to happen to one of their progressive champions who might just have Presidential aspirations in 2016.  So what did they do?  The shifted the focus from a State Department failure to an intelligence community failure.

This shift started during the Vice Presidential debate when Joe Biden claimed their initial assessment and statements were based off of the intel they received from the intelligence community.  And right under the bus the CIA was thrown.  Obama was not going to let Hillary take the fall for Benghazi as more focus was place on the intel and less on Ambassador Steven’s security.  This set the stage for her to look dare I say “Presidential” when she accepted full responsibility for security shortfalls at our diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya.  Not only did she look Presidential, but she set Obama up in the second debate to come across as a strong leader by acknowledging the buck stops with him.  He took the onus off of her and placed it on him.  Now don’t get me wrong, President Obama ultimately owns this; however Hillary should not be getting a free pass.  Her Department is directly responsible for the security failures surrounding this event.  She should not be allowed to resign on her own terms.  She should be fired and this black mark should be attached to her for the rest of her political career.

We can’t allow the narrative to be solely about the information the CIA supplied and the role it played in how the message was conveyed to the American people.  The White House knew this was a terrorist attack within a few hours.  We can’t lock onto why Susan Rice went on five different talk shows and said it was a spontaneous attacked linked to a Youtube video.  In my opinion this is nothing more than a red herring designed to divert our attention away from the truth.  And finally we can’t allow Hillary to quietly fade to black and fly under the radar in regards to her Department’s role unscathed.  She needs to be held accountable and this needs to follow her for the rest of her political career.  Her judgment is in question and should be critically examined.  She and the State Department failed miserably.   We need to remember that Ambassador Stevens and the three other brave souls who died in Benghazi might very well be alive today if our State Department answered their request for more security.  And Secretary Clinton owns it.  Now on to the LINKs.
