Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Fiscal Cliff edition)

The other day I wrote a post about the fiscal cliff negotiations and how I believe a deal has already been made behind closed doors.  That all we’re seeing now is political theater with both sides grandstanding in an attempt to appeal to their bases.  The basis for reaching this conclusion is I believe in the end there is very little difference between the two political parties in regards to their end state goals of achieving a larger more intrusive government in our lives.  In fact the only difference between the two is how fast we get there.  Most of these folks have worked together for a number of years playing the Washington game and it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that many of them are good friends behind the scenes.  This makes it easier for them to work with one another to achieve their utopian goals because like I said they all want the same thing in the end; more government.  The one thing we need to do is remember how we got to this point.

We sometimes forget the reason we’re dealing with this so-called fiscal cliff is because this same group of elected officials failed to get it done over a year ago.  Instead of doing what we elected them to do and rein in spending; they abdicated their responsibilities and created an unconstitutional super committee with its 12 member panel and charged them with finding and additional $1.5 trillion debt savings over a ten-year period.  This in itself was a laughable charge because a meager $1.5 trillion in spending cuts in a 10 year period would do nothing to reduce our national debt or get us back to a sound fiscal state.  In fact our debt would have continued to grow if this agreement was reached.  But none of it mattered because the panel was set up for failure to begin with.  The left stacked the panel with leftist ideologues like Senator Patty Murray, John Kerry, and James Clyburn so there was never a serious effort by the Democrats to compromise.  Yes the same Patty Murray who now appears ok with going over the fiscal cliff.  So don’t tell me they were serious about anything.  They’re one of the main reason we’re in this mess today.

Like the current fiscal cliff negotiations the super committee was nothing more than a show put on for the people. The only real thing they really wanted to accomplish was to kick the can down the road until after the elections.  No one in congress had the courage to vote for or against entitlement reform or spending cuts.  They are a spineless group who care nothing for this country.  They only care about the next election.  So in the end all they had to do is do what they do best…fail.  Failure accomplished their goals and that’s the game being played in Washington these days; failure to get their spending under control, failure to reduce the national debt, failure to support and defend the constitution.  These are the bums a majority of the people wanted back in office, so all I have to say is reap it.  When this fiscal house of cards collapses in on itself we will have no one to blame but ourselves.  But I’m sure we will find a way to blame the Republicans because that’s how America rolls these days.  Now on to the links.

Below are links to outstanding articles by conservative/libertarian bloggers.  Please take the time today to check them out and while you’re there hit their tip jars if they have them because they work hard to bring you the truth.  These fine patriots love the ideal that America once was and believe an informed voter is the most dangerous thing to the status quo.  So tee it up and enjoy another SENTRY JOURNAL round at the LINKs.

    ”failure is the safe choice.”

Failure is always an options with the political class. It give them an excuse to keep ‘fixing’ problems.

    Thanks for the linkage!

The “super committee’s” commitment to slash military funding by 50% is a liberal’s wet dream. Congress has been kicking this can down the road for years. The “fiscal cliff” is just a warning sign for the “end of the road”.

    Maybe the Mayans were right??

Funny about the Mayans. Yes I do know the liberals hate the defense and having a chance to slash it is fills them with joy. They’re very short sighted people.

Our government doesn’t work the y way it was designed to work, does it John. Whatever happen to balance of power and purse strings?

Thanks for the link. It is much appreciated.

You’re welcome for the link Jim. The reason it doesn’t work is because our government is acting outside of their constitutional parameters. Think about it if they were operating within the constraints of the constitution, we would have the nation debt or be in the fiscal mess we’re in. We need to go back to the basics, but I’m not sure if we’re not too far gone to find the beginning. The tories are winning I’m afraid.

Thank you so much for the link John, and I think you are right on in your assessment of the fiscal cliff negotiations. I think a deal has been reached and both parties are playing a game of chess and we are their pawns who will be sacrificed to protect the king. I am growing more and more disenfranchised with the Republicans because they really are no better than the Democrats for they only care about holding onto power. In the new year I am going to make it my goal to shine the light on the hypocrisy of both parties and will no longer blindly follow the Republicans as the lesser of two evils.

If the Republicans cave in and get nothing in return I’m done with them. I have been looking at the Constitutional Party as a possible alternative. I like their platform even though they apply a heavy does of religion. I treat religion as a very personal thing. But everything else they’re spot-on. I really like what they stand for. You’re welcome for the link my friend.

Thanks for the link. Time for the House of Representatives to do what We The People sent them there to do in 2010 ….. If the Empty Suit won’t negotiate on spending … Jump off the cliff, keep the debt ceiling right where it is, shut down Leviathan, and see who notices. It’ll be the takers, not the makers, and we’ll have them right where we want them.

Thanks for the link, John. To quote Selwyn Duke (

“…here’s a message for Republicans who think that liberals can be negotiated with on the budget. I’ll be blunt.

Hey, idiots, they’re not going to stop spending. Capisce?

Yes, I screamed that. How do I know they won’t stop? Ooh, maybe because they haven’t stopped for 50 years? Maybe because the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior? It’s also because a liberal is a liberal is a liberal. A scorpion stings, a cuttlefish expels ink, a skunk sprays mercaptan fluid, and a liberal spends. It’s what the species does.”

You’re welcome for the link Bob. You are absolutely correct. We’ve been trying to get their spending under control. Their history alone should tell us all we need to know as to where this is going. And yet we continue to reelect them.
