Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Late edition)
Sorry for getting this out so late but my schedule was packed today. I write this as someone who has decided not to support the Republican Party until there is a change in leadership and a major paradigm shift. And no the paradigm shift should not involve pandering to specific groups of people. Conservatism is for all people because it universally advances liberty and freedom by downsizing the entity that threatens both; government. John Boehner and his establishment ilk don’t see it that way. In fact they don’t have a problem with big government as long as they can manage it. And Republicans who don’t follow the party line, well they are isolated and their voices are silenced. This mindset has been destroying the Republican Party for some time now and their actions last week are only accelerating its demise.
Many constitutionally minded people like me are beginning to move away from the party and are looking for a conservative alternative. I’m not sure there’s one out there but I do know that a number of my friends feel that until the Republican Party takes steps to limit the size of government and reestablish the constitution as the law of the land they will not support another big government party. And people like us make up a large percentage of the base. Without us the Republican Party will find it very difficult to win in the future. This is why I feel the Party is in decline and why in I believe unless they embrace their conservative roots their influence will gradually diminish. It is indeed fractured because of leaders like John Boehner. In their fervor to reinvent the Republican Party to make it more “inclusive” they have forgotten that advancing liberty and free markets is about as inclusive as you can get because it positively impacts everyone. They have chosen to reject the meat of their platform (low taxes) and play defense instead of advancing sound conservative principles. It’s almost as if they’re embarrassed to be conservative. No wonder the left is steam rolling them and why people like me are leaving them. How can any solid conservative support them? For me enough is enough and I’ve found my way out. I’m only supporting candidates who stand for limited government and unleashing the free market. I hope other conservatives join me. Now on to the links.

Thank you, again, for the link and for spending the time it takes to do this.
I think if the GOP isn’t careful there’s going to be a major schism coming up.

I agree Harrison. They are on the verge of losing their party and I’m not sure they even realize it.
Thanks for the link John. I am right there with you in regards to the Republican party, I am out until they win me back. You nailed it; they don’t have a problem with big government as long as they are the ones in power and I am tired of it. I think there are many like us out there John and I think that played a role in the lower turnout for Romney because people made the same decision we are making now before the election. The Republican party is in serious trouble and I don’t even think they realize it yet.

I know a large number of conservatives in the end couldn’t get behind Mitt, however team Obama did a good job painting him as an out of touch elite who was an evil capitalist. I think this actually hurt Romney more than anything. You’re welcome for the link my friend.
The history of trying to elect third party candidates in this country is not positive. So, I am taking a slightly different approach. If the Republican Party puts up a candiate that I determine to be a true conservative, I will vote for him/her, if not , I don/t vote for anyone . I’d like to see the conservarives in the Uouse and Senate form caucuses and never bend on their principles. The Dems will keep getting their way until we have a majority of conservatives among the Republicans in either house of congress.
Thanks for the link, John.

I’m going to vote for the conservative candidate no matter what party. I agree with you. I believe the conservative wing of the Republican Party needs to take a stand and not move from their core principles. This would create a headache for the leadership. You’re very welcome for the link and keep up the good work.

Great commentary, John, I agree with you. Conservatives didn’t leave the GOP, the GOP left us!
We have a Conservative Party here in New York State and because our state GOP is so RINOtastic, and a lot of decent people end up running on that ballot line after the Republican party screws them over in our rigged primary process.
I am thinking of changing my voter registration – at this point I only keep my R party affiliation so I can have a voice in the primaries, but the stupid party here often decides who will be on the ticket before we ever get a chance to vote on it so there ain’t much reason for me to stick around as far as I can tell. I’m going to do a bit of research to see how changing my affiliation might effect what I can vote on here in my stupid state.
Thank you for including me in your awesome links roundup. I hope you have a wonderful week!
Zilla recently posted..Hitler the Retard
Thanks Zilla. I became an independent a few years ago but I still supported the Republican. That is going to change as long as Boehner remains Speaker of the House. It really rubbed me the wrong way when he purged the fiscal conservatives during the fiscal cliff debates. And because of it I’m done with them.
You’re very welcome for the link.

You go to war with the army you have. Unfortunately, the GOP is being led by a blubbering hack who doesn’t really like us or our values all that much.
Our only hope lies in promoting conservatism in the state and local level. That will be our source of leverage against the tyranny of the progressive agenda.
Thanks for linking to me, John. You are a gent.
