Obama: “It’s the right thing to do for the country…”

Most of you already know that in the early morning hours on this 1st day of 2013 the Senate voted to increases taxes on wealthy Americans while making the current tax rates on the middle class permanent.  For every $41 dollars in revenue generated in taxes there is $1 dollar in spending cuts.  Nothing and I mean nothing with the national debt was addressed.  Out of control spending was not addressed.  Florida Senator, Marco Rubio hammered this point home when he said,

“Thousands of small businesses, not just the wealthy, will now be forced to decide how they’ll pay this new tax and, chances are, they’ll do it by firing employees, cutting back their hours and benefits, or postponing the new hire they were looking to make.  And to make matters worse, it does nothing to bring our dangerous debt under control.”

Only five Republicans voted against this deal.  So once again the Republicans were rolled as they compromised their core values to kick the can down the road.  Folks we’re in trouble.  Thousands of jobs are going to be lost and our debt is going to continue to grow.  And what was President Obama’s response to this incredibly terrible deal…”It’s the right thing to do for the country.”  Really President Obama?

So Mr. President according to you “it’s the right thing to do” when we steal our children’s future by burdening them with massive debt, or do nothing to reform Medicare and Social Security allowing both to go bankrupt within the next 10 years, or to continue to borrow and print money out of thin air to fuel government spending, and finally to continue to implement job destroying policies.  This is your assessment of what is “the right thing to do for our country.”  Wow.  I’m not going to print the names of all the Republicans who voted for this deal because I doubt it will even matter.  This will long be forgotten by 2014.  They’ve been playing this game for years and it hasn’t cost them their seats so I don’t expect anything different in 2014.  Unfortunately we have a very short attention span as a people and it has cost us.  What I will do is ask you to watch the below video of Rand Paul.  This guy gets it.

Rand Paul doesn’t think this deal was the right thing to do for America and I agree.

Happy New Year!

Their definition of what is right and good is a far cry different than mine. I see nothing in this deal that will further the betterment of our country.

I agree with everything you wrote with one exception, at this point I don’t believe most of the Republicans have any core beliefs anymore with the exception of winning reelection. Obama’s statement that this is good for America tells us all that we need to know about what his goals really are for the nation.

I agree Steve, they’re more concerned about winning elections and not doing the right thing. I also agree that their core beliefs as of late have been fluid. Exactly the opposite of conservatism. This is why I can’t back them any more.

Both Texas Senators went for this debacle… One is retiring in a few days, the other needs to be retired next election… This is a travesty for ALL Americans, the Dem/Libbers just can’t see it yet…

Both our Senators voted for this crap sandwich. One Republican and one retiring Democrat. All I can say is the misinformed/uninformed voter got what they wanted…taxes on the rich. Now wait and watch those unemployment numbers rise. This does more to hurt the middle class than help.
