Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (GUNS and TAXES edition)

Have you noticed the mood in America is beginning to change a bit.  It feels like its beginning to turn against the left?  I believe there are two reasons for this shift in the national mood.  The first is the gun debate.  Finally we’re having a discussion about gun rights and the second amendment and people are starting to dig into the intent of the second amendment.  We’re finally openly talking about how the right to bear arms is a safeguard put in place by our founders so that the people had a means to defend themselves against tyranny.  Yes that’s right as hard as it for many on the left to swallow, it’s not about hunting.  It’s about the individual having the capacity to protect their life, liberty, and property against those who would threaten any of them.  And gun rights advocates are winning the argument.  Some people are being educated for the very first time about our right to bear arms and why this right is an essential component of a free and secure state.  And you know what…people are getting it.  Look at gun sales and the NRA’s rise in membership.  This is why we’re starting to see more defections from Democrats, calling Obama’s proposal too extreme.  This is also why we’re seeing a number of states taking action at the state level to thwart any federal attempt to confiscate or ban guns,  The left hates having these types of debates in the open because they simply don’t have the facts or statistics to back their assertions.  Many in America view gun rights as a red line issue that should never be crossed.  The left knows this.  The left would rather use anti-gun propaganda to condition the people and have these discussions behind closed doors like the fiscal cliff negotiations.  They would then present us with their solution to curb gun violence and increase gun safety.  It would have been flawed and liberty stealing, but easier to sell to the people in the wake of the Newtown shootings.  The best way to defeat progressivism is to shine the light of truth on it and you can’t do that when you’re standing on the other side of a closed door.

The second thing that happened this past week was directly felt by most working Americans.  Their checks were a little smaller this week because their taxes went up.  Wait a minute I thought Obama promised not to raise a single tax on any American making under $250,000.  Well not so much.  Which makes him a big fat liar.  This is what we get when deals are negotiated behind closed doors and no one reads the bills before they vote on them.  This is what happens to the middle class when neither party has our best interest in mind.  And all this does is reinforce the stigma that people already have about congress; they’re nothing but a bunch of liars and crooks.  Trust me Obama will take a hit for this in his approval rating and he’ll take another hit when the Obamacare taxes kick in.  Elections have consequences and thanks to the uninformed/misinformed voter we’re all going to be reaping it for the next four years.  And now that people on both the left and right are feeling Obama’s broken promises, I predict the road will only get rougher for the anointed one. Now on to the links.

Below are links to outstanding articles by conservative bloggers.  Please take the time to hit them and while you’re there hit their tip jars if they have them.  These good people work hard each day to bring you the truth that seems to elude the bias media.  So tee it up and enjoy another SENTRY JOURNAL round at the LINKs.

Hmmm…so let me see if I understand this correctly.  We the wage earners must adjust our lifestyles to adjust to the increased confiscation of our wealth by the government, but government doesn’t have to change a thing to adjust its spending.  Yep sounds about right.  Doesn’t get any more in your face than that!

Thanks for all the great articles again and have a safe and lifestyle adjusting week.

Liberty forever, freedom for all!

You’re very welcome Steve. I think I’m right because people will only change how they view something when they feel the pain. Guns are a part of our history and culture. Our right to bear arms in our constitution separates us from the rest of the world. Most Americans are very sensitive when it comes to curtailing this right and when someone begins to overreach or with the debate is actually out in the open, they get judge for themselves.

Thanks for the link John. I hope you are right about the American people finally waking up and I think you might be. I think that Obama is going to over-reach on gun control and this could cost him, and when you couple that with the people who voted for Obama who had no idea their taxes were going to go up we might finally see people turn against him. I just wish they listened to our warnings before November, but sometime people just have to see it to believe it.

You’re very welcome Steve and as always keep up the great work. Obama is predictable and he will attempt to do some things through executive order even though he has no constitutional authority. And I do believe it will cost him, especially with the gun issue. Americans don’t like to pay higher taxes and they don’t like anyone messing with their guns. Obama is trying to do both at the same time.

I think I am Larry. I can feel the mood on the street even amongst moderate liberals. They don’t see this issue as black and white as the President. And they don’t like the idea of having their rights restricted because of the actions of a madman. You’re very welcome for the link.

I could be convinced of a turn from the Left if We The People make their own elected Democrats insist on spending cuts. I’m not holding my breath, but I’m an optimist and I always feel better when I read your insightful reasoning, John. Thank you so very much for the link.

You’re very welcome Maggie. The way I see it is people are people and no one likes to pay higher taxes. But what really rubs people the wrong way is when they feel like they have been lied to about taxes. Look at the first George Bush and the read my lips. They never let that go and I believe it cost him the election. Additionally most Americans do not want their right to bear arms tinkered with because of the actions of a lone madman. There has always been an undercurrent of mistrust when it comes to gun control and Obama. Now people are finally having to deal with a President who can be more flexible in his second term and their already not liking it.

Jim, I don’t believe this man can control his Marxist tendencies and desire to redistribute the wealth of America throughout the world. He desires control and the only way you can gain more control over the American people is by stripping us of our liberties. We will see more attempts like this in the future and he will try to usurp the constitution to advance HIS agenda. I’m working at the state level in an effort to thwart some of these actions.

You’re very welcome Bunker. Don’t worry about what he says he still has not constitutional authority and if he attempts to regulate or ban guns through executive order, then he is not faithfully exercising his duties as President that the constitution demands and removal procedures should commence. It’s that simple.

John: I think some of the push back against the Left, comes from the Left’s knee jerk reaction to things like the Newtown shooting. The same old liberal remedies that didn’t work ten years ago (can anyone say “return to the failed policies of the past”?) is their first and only response to gun violence.

Add to that the ghoulish way they jump upon tragedies like Newtown to forward their political agenda, and then they have the gall to tell us that we “dance on the graves of dead kindergarteners” if we disagree in any way with their unrealistic “solutions”, is just too much for many of us to bear.

I think you’re right John. People don’t like being lied too. Plus, they don’t like having more money taken out of their paychecks. For once I think that citizens are paying attention to the gun control/2nd Amendment debate. Thanks so much for the linkage.
