Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Think outside of the box edition)
I often find myself thinking of ways we can make our republic stronger. The obvious answer is of course is to get our government to function within the parameters of their constitutional authority. Running a close second behind that is educating the people again about our history, founders, and liberty because without an informed public we will never be able to force government back into its constitutional shackles. One of the things I’ve been fixed on for the last few months is something I’ve been reluctant to write about. The reason I’ve been reluctant to write about it is because the premise of the argument accepts the current reality of a government operating outside their constitutional authority. However because the government has expanded into areas it has no constitutional authority what was once manageable is no longer manageable because the structure of our government was never designed to be this involved in our daily lives. I mean let’s face 535 legislators and one President cannot effectively govern 300 plus million people. Like I said the founders never expected this. This is why they championed federalism.
Under the concept of federalism both the states and government have their area of responsibilities. The states deal with local issues and the federal government deals with national/international issues. The founders wanted government close to the people and believed local government was in the best position to be responsive to the direct needs of the people. However the progressive era of the early 1900s twisted and turned this concept of federalism on its head as it sought to expand the role of the federal government in our lives; a federal government that is detached and out of touch with the every day needs of the people. This was a government that could only be reactive to the events in our lives. It was a government that would use a cookie cutter approach to address and regulate individual behavior, never taking into account the uniqueness of each situation. This has been going on for a hundred years now and this is why the more our government expands its authority the more inefficient and ineffective it becomes. This is the reality we live in. So how do we make the unmanageable more manageable? How do we the people make the republic stronger in this environment? In the coming week I plan on writing about a few different proposals I have heard. Proposals I believe can make the republic stronger and provide the vehicle for better representation. This is just the teaser. Now on to the links.

It surely deserves thought John. We MUST educate children with the truth, but it will take decades to overcome what has happened since the 60′s. “In the meantime” is the problem. We now have a President and a Senate culpable in subverting the Constitution. I can easily blame both sides for doing so for a very long time, but the kind of attacks we have seen in the last 4 years are something new. I pray we find a solution. I’ll look forward to your proposals. I know you give your work a lot of thought. Thanks so much for the link

“Think outside the box”? Maybe. On the other hand, if I hand you a box with a copy of the Constitution and the Bible inside, would you need to think “outside the box” to find your answers? Remember too, that just because the answers may be simple, doesn’t mean they’re easy…

Well said proof. The problem is many people are unwilling to look inside the box and worse yet those who do and see the bible and constitution have no idea what to do with them. Trust me there is nothing simple about the solutions to this problem. It’s all about starting a conversation and coming up with ideas.

John Carey recently posted..Standing on Principle – Drug Testing Welfare Recipients
Thanks so much for the links for my blogs. I think one solution lies with the 10th Amendment. Another may be to little by little make reductions like our country’s government has been expanded over the years. I am looking forward to your posts on solutions. God Bless my friend.
