On this day in 1979 America experienced its worst nuclear accident at the Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant. I lived about two hours north of Harrisburg and remember reading a book on our living room floor as my parents sat in their chairs, eyes glued to the special report that was covering the event. I of course had no idea how serious the event was; however by the look on my parents face they most definitely understood how serious it was. Today I want to take the time to reflect back on 28 March 1979. Below is a five part PBS documentary on the accident. Please take some time to watch the clips.
It really makes you think how lucky we were on that day considering how close we were to a meltdown.
