Moneyed Interests and President Obama: A Love Story

The more Obama’s presidency has become a punch line to the stances he took as a candidate, it’s become harder and harder for some people to understand how a once staunch defender of civil liberties and advocate of a, in some regards, more restrained executive branch could alter their beliefs so heavily. President Obama’s recent “you didn’t build that” comments have been the cause of much discussion lately. Of course, the general idea of what Obama has said is nothing new to liberal thought. Elizabeth Warren uttered a very similar sentiment last September, albeit much more eloquently. American Nero

Everyone knows Nero right? He is most infamously known for fiddling while Rome burned to the ground, which is kind of sad, because that is the one part of his life where he actually stepped up and acted like a caring leader of the Roman people. Nero was a bad dude, but he did not sit by and play the fiddle (an instrument still to be invented 1500 years later) while his city burned for over seven days. Anachronistic mis-tellings notwithstanding, Nero does serve a good purpose for us today as a historical figure that gives perspective to a similar official in office today. Can you guess who? Their Failure – Our Challenge

In November the nation spoke clearly and loudly; they were done with the liberal policies of “hope and change”.  Obamacare had become a blemish for politicians, nobody dared speak of raising taxes, bailouts were taboo, and stimulus packages weren’t mentioned for fear of the people’s axe.  Oh how things were about to change! Progressives inside/outside strategy

Lately things have not been all unicorns and fairies in the kingdom of Obamaland.  Poll numbers clearly show his policies are not only proving to be very unpopular with center right voters but also with the progressives that staunchly supported his candidacy.  Yes that’s right the progressives feel he is drifting too far to the center.  He’s slipping away.  Well guess what, they have a plan and that plan is an inside/outside strategy. The free market is alive and well at the farmers market

Towards the end of July every year the farmers market opens for business in my town.  Farmers bring their produce to town, set up tents, and sell their goods.  It’s the final reward for all their work toiling the soil to produce their good.  I went to the market this weekend and what I saw was a free market that was alive and well. With little to no government regulation, buyers and sellers meet to exchange money for goods in an unrestricted environment.  It’s an absolute thing beauty.  Each seller skillfully set their stands up in a manner that is appealing to the buyer.  They are competing with each other selling the same produce, so set up is vital.  The deliberate and careful placement of goods is a crucial component of … Read entire article »

Mr. Stalin’s Neighborhood…in America

According to a new poll by Democracy Corps 55 percent of likely voters think “socialist” is a reasonably accurate way of describing Obama.  That’s an absolutely astounding number considering it was derived from citizens of a nation that was founded on individual liberties, property rights, and limited government.  When the majority of the citizens of this great Republic believe that their chief executive officer is a socialist that should send a pretty clear message that we’re on the wrong track. Political Sleepwalkers

Sleepwalking is a disorder characterized by walking or other activities while seemingly still asleep. Yesterday I was talking to a few friends that were frustrated with their friends or family members who were still supporting President Obama.  They couldn’t understand that with an economy so bad and policies that are so anti-America and anti-capitalism, why their friends or loved ones were still blindly hoping for something that simply wasn’t going to happen with this President or congress. Brace for impact we could be headed for a third depression

Today I found a very revealing article on Moneynews.com.  In the article Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman warned that the U.S. economy is in the “early stages” of a depression, one which will be much more severe than the Great Depression.  Now the major problem I have with Mr. Krugman is he believes spending is the way out of this mess.  He definitely embraces the Keynesian economic model; a model that the Obama administration fully bought into.  The thing to key in on is we have a far left economist saying we’re in trouble.  With the exception of Rick Santelli and conservative talk radio there really hasn’t been a peep from the MSM about the dire straits our economy is in.  The MSM continues to try paint an economic rosy picture even though all economic … Read entire article »

Arizona is about us

The more I think about Arizona the more I reach the conclusion that in the end Arizona is really about us.  For years the federal government has encroached on the constitutional authority of the states to manage local problems.  They have taken federalism and made it a one way street with the government dictating policy and the agenda.  Now we are starting to see the early stages of states pushing back and Arizona is on the frontline. Hey guess what…elections do have consequences

This morning on my way to work I was listening to conservative talk radio personality Mike Church who was already working hour three of his show when I turned him on.  As I began to listen I heard a certain tone in his voice. Forgetting

by RightHandManYesterday was the anniversary of D-Day. Outside of some blogs (such as this one) there wasn’t much coverage. The Sunday morning news shows didn’t honor the day, there was little mention on the main news websites, the NBA Finals, and MLB baseball games didn’t recognize the day. Knee Jerk is a Mule Kick

by RightHandMan It may have taken the President over a week to react to the oil spill in the gulf, but the left’s knee jerk reaction may turn into a painful kick from the democratic mule.  Obama’s administration purposefully downplayed the oil spill because it came just weeks after his released policy that seemed to support a minor escalation in offshore drilling.  The environmentalists in this country weren’t too happy with his decision and this recent spill has become leverage for them to put an end to offshore drilling. Super Pickpocket

by RightHandMan President Obama is “deeply frustrated” with the lack of progress BP has made in plugging the oil leak in the gulf in spite of his own week long “laser like focus”. Perhaps he is just as frustrated that his magical laser vision didn’t help create jobs , or fraud in government and marketplace. by RightHandMan Twice this week I have heard the mention of so called “constitutional experts”, but I still don’t know who they are.  John Brennan on “Fox News Sunday” and Eric Holder on “Meet the Press” both, when asked about the legality of Joe Lieberman’s upcoming bill on renouncing citizenship of Americans tied to terrorism, passed the buck to these so called “constitutional experts”. Arizona: Don’t Look at the Light!

How many of you recall the scene from “It’s a Bug’s Life when a mosquito flies towards the pretty blue light in a trance like state while a second mosquito tries to warn him of the danger.  The light attracts the bug with its inviting blue hue and draws it in.  The bug so entranced by the light is powerless to resist.  Then…zap!  This is how I feel right now with the current Arizona immigration law and all the press it has received from the MSM.  That should be warning enough.  If the MSM wants your attention on it then perhaps something is amiss. Financial Reform = Checkbook Tax?

In my last post I told people to keep their eye on this financial reform bill.  That the recently passed immigration law in Arizona is being used by Democrats as a distraction to avert the public’s attention from what the left hand is doing in Washington DC.  Of course I am talking about the financial reform bill that up until today Republicans were engaging in a filibuster to block opening up debate on the Senate floor.  They have now decided to end their filibuster and allow debate on the bill to take place.  There are many reasons why this bill is bad for not only our free market system but for the taxpayer.  So it’s time to get our heads back the game. Lessons From Israel
