And Thus Obama Declared All The Gulf Clean

by RightHandMan Last weekend President Obama took his wife and his daughter Sasha to Florida for a dip in the gulf. The event turned into a photo-op and a declaration that the gulf waters are “safe and they are open for business”. The trip may have backfired on Obama because it has done little but spark debate and controversy. First I must point out that President Obama was in Florida declaring some kind of victory over the no longer oil-layered water. Most, of course, assumed that the whole Gulf was open to all fishing. Not so. Only around 5000 square miles off of the Florida Panhandle are open and shrimp is still off limits. The coasts and deeper waters off of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama are still off limits. I’m sure that … Read entire article »

President Obama’s Community Organizer Moment

Over the last few days I have been reading a number of posts on the Ground Zero mosque and President Obama’s comments last Friday night when he expressed support for the Ground Zero mosque.  By Saturday he realized his comments had ignited a firestorm of criticism and he immediately began to back pedal from his words. For the most part I refrained from writing on this topic until I sat back and pondered the President’s motives.  I thought how could he be so careless with his words knowing that this issue has sparked deep-seated emotions in many Americans?  I mean is he that determined to reserve a seat in history with the rest of America’s on term Presidents?  As I read blog after blog I couldn’t wrap my brain around why he took this … Read entire article »

Disrespecting the Fallen

by RightHandMan When I was young someone opened up a pool hall just across the street from my elementary school. Eventually this individual got his liquor license and the pool hall evolved into a bar. The parents cried foul, the city shut it down. Were his 1st amendment rights stepped on? The President of the United States seems to think so. In one of his latest speeches he declared that Muslims have the right to build a mosque in downtown Manhattan. Of course they do – but not there. Charles Krauthammer points out in his op-ed column for the Washington Post that in 1993 Disney was disallowed the construction of a theme park near Manassas Battlefield over fears that it vulgarized the Civil War. He goes on: “It’s why the commercial viewing tower … Read entire article »

Capitalism Lessons for Obama from 1948

Yesterday President Obama called on former President Clinton for his help on the struggling U.S. economy.  It appears Obama is starting to feel the heat from his failed economic policies as more and more people express concerns over his ability to address the nation’s economic woes.  The U.S. Chamber of Commerce issued a scathing critique of the administration’s policies.  The leading business group issued a rebuke of Obama’s economic agenda, accusing him and his Democrats in Congress of neglecting job creation and hampering growth with burdensome regulatory and tax policies.  This is all happening as the Senate prepares to vote on one of the most anti-capitalistic bills (Financial Reform Bill) that this nation has ever seen. It appears that the President and his party are struggling over what exactly capitalism is and how it can actually help restart the economic engine … Read entire article »

Meet Dr. Donald Berwick

Well folks, President Obama once again found a way to circumvent the system and appoint Dr. Donald Berwick to run Medicare and Medicaid.  He pulled this cheesy move while congress was on recess because he was fearful that Republicans would hold up the appointment of his nominee.  The President is permitted to by law to push through picks while congress is in recess.  For those who do not know Dr. Berwick, the below video clip should provide a clear picture as to what he believes and where he stands on health care issues.   So you can see why the President was nervous about presenting him to the American people.  He didn’t want people to hear those nasty words “wealth redistribution.”  The whole health care as a right probably wouldn’t have helped … Read entire article »

Leadership Wanted: Apply at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

I suppose I could comment about last night’s Presidential address to the nation, but I’m not sure I could add any value to the conversation or inject any new points of view that would sway opinions one way or another.  The facts are the facts and you can only hide from them for so long until they eventually run you down.  We all know the government has failed on multiple levels in their response to this disaster.  We also know that our President for the most part has fumbled the ball on this one.  We see and hear the tragic stories everyday and feel helpless. I want everyone to know that I did watch the address and for the most part it felt more like smoke and mirrors than a Presidential … Read entire article »

Cafferty Calls It Like It Is

I’m not a big fan of CNN’s Jack Cafferty but he hit this one out of the park.  I have said that the only thing controversial about Arizona passing an immigration law that essentially mirrors the federal immigration law is that they were forced into this position because the government failed to do their job when it comes to the enforcing the federal law. It was actually refreshing to finally see someone other than conservative talk radio call it like it is.  Read what Mr. Cafferty had to say about the Arizona law and the games our government is playing. NewsBustersJACK CAFFERTY: So Arizona passes a tough law against illegal immigration and suddenly they’ve got Washington’s attention.  One poll finds 70 percent of Arizona voters support this new law, so hey, maybe we better do something, too.  And like the lemmings … Read entire article »

The Coming Age of Constitutional Enlightenment

Most of us are all concerned that the United States is heading down a dark path that leads to a loss of liberty, a progressive utopia, and severe economic challenges in the near future.  I mean very few people can argue with the fact that the actions of the current administration and congress have given just cause for concern.  We see the negative side of human nature when it comes to political discourse because the deeper the issues the more entrenched we all become on each side.  Facts and debate has given way to name calling and finger pointing. Now granted the majority of this has come from the progressives/leftist side of the argument, but I have also heard some of it emanate from the right to include myself.  I’m not … Read entire article »
