Some Thoughts on the “Occupy Wall Street” Protests

I’ve been following the moonbat fest in New York, as well as in other locations, though I haven’t written about them until now. It really started as a non-story, though the MSM and the union bosses seem to be building them up. So, here are some of my thoughts about them. I get the impression that they’ve been coached to be very careful about what they say to the media. Let’s look at some general statements, and the CH 2.0 translation. “Greed”= Communism “A more equitable system”=Communism “Democracy”=Communism “Evil Corporations”=Communism Am I overgeneralizing? Perhaps, but from what I have seen and read, these are mostly young, terribly misinformed, and horrifically misguided people. They either know what they want, and are choosing not to say it openly, or they are the most useful of the useful idiots. … Read entire article »

This is What “Democracy” Looks Like? Progressives Attempting to Stop a Vote on “Amazon Tax”

If you recall, Califailure passed a tax on on-line sales, causing Amazon to cancel their successful Affiliate Program in that state. We also know that the regressive mantra in the past year has been, “This is what democracy looks like.” Of course, in Wisconsin, “democracy” meant preventing actual votes from being taken. You know, democracy! In a “democracy,” votes are only to be taken when the outcome suits the regressives. If they will not, well…I guess “democracy” cannot be permitted. Now, back to the Amazon Tax. Amazon is refusing to collect taxes for Califailure, and is campaigning to have a referendum in order to repeal the tax. You know, democracy! However, according to Democratic State Legislators in Califailure, this is NOT what “democracy” looks like… A … Read entire article »

Some Thoughts on Human History, and Progressives

Many of you might have noticed that I often put quotations around the word, “progressive.” Over the last couple of years, I’ve probably wasted a thousand keystrokes doing that, so I might as well explain why. For the vast majority of human history, mankind has lived in a state of tyranny. This probably started not long after cave man Ugh realized that his neighbor, Argh was weaker than him, and carried a smaller club. After Argh’s untimely demise (with the exception of some tribal societies), the course of mankind was set. As mankind developed from hunter gatherers to simple agrarian societies, to city states, and then empires, a variety of chieftains, kings, dictators, warlords, priests, priestesses, and self declared “gods,” have ruled mankind. During those countless ages, … Read entire article »

The circle of dictators – from King George to King Barry

In my life, I have been called many things, most often of a pejorative nature (not sure if this speaks more about me or my detractors). But one moniker that has always stuck in my craw has been the fascist label. Being a libertarian that believes in the individual, I believe the use of the term fascist to demean true conservatives is wholly misplaced. My guess is this speaks more to the ignorance of liberals than to the difficulty in defining what truly is fascism. When we think of fascist governments, what first comes to mind is Hitler’s Germany, and Mussolini’s Italy. This is why the left love to call Republicans Nazis, wrongly assuming right thinking individuals desire a fascist government. Let’s analyze what fascism is … Read entire article »

Mind-Numbed Robot: Socia.list

The Progressive States Network (PSN) has been flying under the radar for quite some time now.  During the last few weeks there has been a concerted effort by a small number of conservative bloggers to get the word out about this organization and their desire to push progressive policies at the state level.  Yes that’s right our local politics have been infected by this progressive disease known as the PSN. Mind Numbed Robot has taken it to the next level and has created a new page called Socia.list. Below are a few things you need to know about the page pulled directly from it. Socia.list What is it? An idea hatched while researching the Progressive States Network. What is the Progressive States Network? The Progressive States Network’s Board of Directors at the time of this posting consist … Read entire article »

Surprise! Zogby survey reveals liberal/Democrats lack understanding of basic economics

Here’s a newsflash! A recent Zogby survey of 4,835 American adults reveal that those adults that self-identified themselves as either liberal or Democrat did very poorly on questions about basic economics.  In fact the conservatives and libertarians on the average incorrectly answered 18.8 percent of the time as compared to the progressives/liberals who incorrectly answered questions on basic economics a whopping 67.6 percent of the time.  So progressives/liberals don’t understand basic economics.  I wonder why this is? It’s abundantly clear to me that the progressives/liberals in Congress lack understanding of basic economics.  The policies they have put forth have done very little to stimulate the economy and create an environment that is business friendly.  Instead they have opted for crony capitalism implementing regulations that protect the established under the banner of “to big to fail” … Read entire article »

From Planet Schultz: Conservatives Own or Control 90% of the Media

I found this video on YouTube of progressive Ed Schultz strategizing how to get the progressive message out in an electronic media market that is 90 percent owned or controlled by conservatives.  He started off the night by insulting Tea Partiers.  He called them low information voters that are being propped up by the Glenn Becks of the world.  I guess he missed the recent New York Times/CBS News poll  that found that people that identify with the Tea Party movement are more educated than the general public.  The general public includes the uninformed Ed Schultz.  He then went on to say that the electronic media is 90 percent own or controlled by conservatives. Now I do know that conservative talk radio seems to attract a much larger audience than liberal talk radio, but this is the free … Read entire article »

Progressives’ high-water mark

In the fall of 2003 my wife and I decide to visit the battlefield at Gettysburg.  Being a civil war junkie, it was a must on my to-do list of historic civil war sites to see before I left this world.  I must say it turned out to be one of the greatest experiences of my life.  We did all the things that tourists do; snapped a few family pictures, visited all the historic museums, and toured the key points of interest on the battlefield.  As the day drifted towards sunset we made our last two stops.  The first was at a placed called Seminary Ridge. It was from Seminary Ridge that General Lee and Longstreet on July 3, 1863 staged 13,000 confederate soldiers just inside the tree line.  After … Read entire article »

From the Radical Far Left, We Now Have the Coffee Party Movement

Well I knew it would only be a matter of time before the progressives came up with their own answer for the Tea Party Movement.  Yes that’s right, the progressives have dug down deep into their intellectual bag of tricks and came up with the “Coffee Party Movement.”  Founded by a far left filmmaker and activist Annabel Park, the Coffee Party Movement mission statement is as follows: The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work … Read entire article »

Are the Democrats Ready to Walk the Plank for Obamacare?

Do you believe the Democrats are ready to walk the plank for Obamacare?  I most definitely do.  You see after watching the heath care summit the other day it became very clear to me that the Democrats are not running the show anymore in their own party.  The shots are now being called by a bunch of ideologues called progressives.  These progressive have come out of hiding and hijacked the Democratic Party.  They now hold key positions and exercise a great deal of influence when it comes to the party direction.  Traditional Democrats are on the outside looking in.  They are operating from a position of weakness.  What’s most dangerous about progressives is that they are true believers in the ends justifies the means notion.  And what I mean by this is … Read entire article »

The Real Threat to Progressive Ideology: KNOWLEDGE

The more I thought about the comments that Chris Matthews and Joan Walsh made about the Bill of Rights and the Constitution the other night on Hardball, the angrier I became.  I decided I just couldn’t let it go with one post.  You see I am one of those “fundamentalist” on the Constitution that Matthews called out.  I believe strongly in the idea of strict and literal adherence to the basic principles of our Constitution.  This makes me a dangerous person according to Matthews. How in God’s name have we reached this point in America?  It’s like we’re living in “Bizarro World” where up is down, black is white, and right is wrong.  I mean how can a people actually just sit by and allow these political hacks to bash our … Read entire article »

Texas vs the EPA

Today Texas along with several other industry groups took the first steps to push back against the government by filing petitions in federal court challenging the government’s authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions.  All I have to say is it’s about time.  For me it’s not about carbon dioxide emissions and greenhouse gas, because the science is incomplete on both.  Yes the Supreme Court made a disastrous decision a few years back by ruling that the EPA could regulate greenhouse gas emissions, but I wonder if they would come to the same conclusion in today’s environment with climategate and fudged climate data.  Well maybe it’s time to find out. You see I have been waiting a long time for states to wake up and start challenging some of these overreaching policies.  … Read entire article »

White House Retools Communications Strategy

Well today I ran across this gem of a story reported by the Washington Post.  It appears that the White House is looking at “retooling” their communication strategy to ”produce faster responses to political adversaries.”  Hmmm, sounds like something from the Saul Alinsky playbook.  Yes that’s right, behind door number one is Rule 8: Keep the pressure on. Use different tactics and actions and use all events of the period for your purpose. “The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this that will cause the opposition to react to your advantage.” So what exactly is this new strategy?  Well Robert Gibbs, along with other White House aides described four major changes that have been implemented since Scott Brown upset the … Read entire article »

That Pesky Constitution and its Negative Liberties

A few days ago the Supreme Court reminded Congress that their authority to impose restrictions on free speech is limited by our pesky little Constitution.  Especially speech that is political in nature.  In a 5-to-4 ruling, they lifted the ban on using corporate and union funds for electioneering communications and advocacy ads.  Justice Anthony Kennedy writing for the majority said, “If the First Amendment has any force, it prohibits Congress from fining or jailing citizens, or associations of citizens, for simply engaging in political speech.”  Wow how refreshing is that.  Well as you know the decision angered the left.  They claimed big corporations would have an unfair advantage during election cycles and that they would drown out the voice of the people with their corporate dollars.  They also argued that corporate entities should not be afforded the same Constitutional rights as individuals.  … Read entire article »

Delusional Progressive Left VS the Really Delusional Socialist Left

In this corner from the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, the poster child of progressive spin, the one and only Chris Maaatthewssss!  And in this corner from Socialist wing of the Democratic Party, the master of this liberal disaster…Howard Deeeeeean!  And so it began.  The two radicals faced off on Wednesday night on Hardball.  So many of us in America missed this epic fight, but it is definitely worth a look.  Howard Dean came out swinging by being in complete denial about what the outcome of the election in Massachusetts would mean for the President and his political party.  Matthews asked Dean, “Would you have 51 (assuming they’ll use the nuclear option) after what happened yesterday,” and Dean replied, “yesterday the problem was that people wanted more.”  Dean … Read entire article »

Blue Dog Blueprint for 2010…LIE!

This morning I was reading my local newspaper and buried in the region section was a small write-up about how our so called “blue dog” representative was surprised by President Obama.  You see, I reside in one of those “red states” that is being represented by a self proclaimed “blue dog” democrat.  The state is North Dakota and our lone representative Earl Pomeroy is doing it again.  He stated to the AP how disappointed he was in how much he disagrees with Obama “a whole lot of the time too.”  If there was milk from my cereal in my mouth at the time I read it, I would have spit it out all over the place.  Really Mr. Pomeroy, you disagree “a whole lot of the time” with Obama?  Are you … Read entire article »

Obama Money and the Entitlement Society

Last night I was watching a video on Youtube that turned my stomach.  The video was a clip of a news report from last October in Detroit.  Rumors had circulated around the community that $3,000 stimulus checks were available for people facing economic hardship.  Free money!  Thousands of Detroit residents flocked to the Cobo Center in the hopes of receiving some housing assistance or free money.  It was estimated at one point that there was over 15,000 people standing in line for help.  When I watched this video I couldn’t believe that we as a people have steered this far off course.  Over the years, we have become an entitlement society that is more willing to fight over the scraps handed out by the government than carve out our own … Read entire article »

"We The Progressives"

We The Progressives, in Order to form a more utopian Union, establish social justice, insure domestic Equality, provide for the collective needs, promote the Welfare State, secure the wealth of others for ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish these principles for the progressive movement of America. If you are offended by me making a mockery of the preamble of our Constitution by substituting these empty words in place of the truly inspirational words crafted by our Framers, then perhaps there is still hope for this great nation.  The sad fact is many won’t be offended or even angered by my actions.  Some might view it as funny while others will say it was done in poor taste then quietly move on.  I did this drive a point home.  You see the progressive movement in this country is alive and well.  … Read entire article »

From Schoolhouse Rock to "The Story of Stuff"

Last night my wife and I were talking about the preamble of the Constitution and all of a sudden we started singing the Schoolhouse Rock song “We the People.”  We recited a few more songs from the series and continued to laugh as we both sang out of tune.  For a brief moment we were whisked back to time when life was so much simpler.  I decided to jump on YouTube and looked up most of the old Schoolhouse Rock cartoons.  I was pulled back into a time when children were taught the value and uniqueness of our Constitution with a cartoon and catchy song.  What’s funny are those catchy little cartoons are still a part of me today.  I can still remember most of them.  It was then I recalled an … Read entire article »
