DISCLOSE Act Passes House Vote 219-206

Well our Congress has taken the first step to limit free speech going into an election year by passing H.R. 5175.  The vote represents a total disregard for the 1st amendment of our Constitution by making a law abridging free speech.  The only organizations exempt from the bill is the NRA and unions.  The law will take effect 30 days after passage.  It could take years before it finds its way to the SCOTUS for a ruling even though it flies in the face of the recent SCOTUS ruling in Citizens United v FEC.  Listen to Mark Levin’s and free speech expert Cleta Mitchell’s take on the passage of the bill and what it means for all of us here. Democrat Hank Johnson reveals the real reason behind passing the DISCLOSE Act. Now in … Read entire article »

Why Jews are Democrats

by RightHandMan Why are Jews Democrats? This question was posed to me by John days ago. In the context of the current headlines the alliance seems counter productive and even combative. With Helen Thomas telling Jews to get out of Israel and go back to Germany (presumably their “home land”), Obama’s alignment with antisemites such as Jeremiah Wright and Rashid Khalidi, and the democrat’s tendency to be less aligned with Israel than Republicans, it would seem that the GOP would be a safe house for Jewish Americans. So why do 75%+ of American Jews vote democrat in the polls? The answer to this question has many layers. The most misunderstood element in this posed question is is in regards to the difference between Judaism and the Jewish people. Being Jewish doesn’t necessarily … Read entire article »

THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE

I watched a good portion of the healthcare summit through various online media outlets.  I also read a variety of opinions on the meeting from a number of political pundits.  I will be the first to admit that I thought the Republicans were going to walk into a trap.  A trap set by a master puppeteer and his Democrat puppets.  Well after watching a number of snippets here and there I can actually say I thought the Republicans held their ground when given the time to state their case.  The Democrats monopolized the time, but the Republicans won the day in my opinion. They carried themselves in a calm professional manner and articulated their differences in a clear and understandable style.  I bought it. When thinking about the summit I am reminded … Read entire article »

Back to the Basics

Today I was talking to a few people about the economy and the current mess we’re in.  The conversation eventually flowed towards the Founding Fathers and the Constitution.  Before I knew it they were all tuned in to my words and listening attentively.  I was recommending one of my favorite books, “The Miracle of The 5,000 Year Leap” when it hit me just how starved these good people were for information about the Constitution and the Founding Fathers.  Most of them were quite a bit younger and I could see in their eyes that what I was telling them about liberty and property rights seemed like a new concept.  I asked them how much were they taught about the Constitution in school.  Most of them shrugged their shoulders.  I then … Read entire article »

What is a Conservative?

Does anyone really know the conservative mind? I mean what is a conservative? Is a conservative a bigot? Is a conservative about big business? Is a conservative narrow minded? Or a war monger? Do conservatives believe they have the moral high ground? Are they pro-gun anti-gay anti-government extremist, or something completely different? Over the last couple of years I have asked myself these questions. After all if I’m going to call myself a conservative I should at least make an attempt to understand the ideology? The problem was I had never really examined why I’m a conservative. By the age of forty I began to experience what I like to call a political ideological mid-life crisis. I found myself scrutinizing my belief system and values wondering if I had chosen the … Read entire article »

A Nation Divided

How have we become a nation divided? Have we become so disconnected with our fellow Americans that we are no longer willing to work together to solve problems? Maybe we are simply set in our ways and are unwilling to listen to each other anymore. Or perhaps it’s the political climate we live in that encourages and feeds division. Lately I have found myself asking these questions and have reached my own conclusions on this matter. I believe the reason we have become so divided is we have chosen the path of least resistance. I know how can division be the path of least resistance? Let me explain what I mean. Most of us work long hours each day to just to make ends meet. After work we run the kids … Read entire article »
