The President, of course, has dined on dog.  Apparently the killing of dogs is supported by the left whether it is for feast or fancy (Fancy Feast?).  PETA was found on inspection to have killed 84% of their sheltered animals within the first 24 hours of receiving them in 2010.  How many were actually used for food is still unknown.  The President also supported convicted dog killer Michael Vick during his comeback to the NFL (Mr. Obama big on second chances).  He went so far as to call the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles (another animal the President supports killing) in order to express his gratitude for hiring his fellow dog killer.

While Romney might not be able to convince the majority of the right that he is a strong social or fiscal conservative, he has drawn that line with regard to the treatment of dogs, relative to the President.  It is no wonder that Romney has come out on the other end of this issue.  If eating and killing dogs are the posture of the left, then why wouldn’t a right-winger proudly prop his pet up on the wagon and drive across the country?

This illustrates a strong contrast between the President and the presidential hopeful.  So where do you stand on the dog issue?  Do you stand on the left where you kill dogs for food or fun, or are you all about parading pooches on transports?  The average voter (I’m told by the media) is almost always somewhere in the middle.  The blind acceptance of this fact has lead me to believe that Romney must also come to the middle (as GOP primary winners do during the general election; again, so says the media) in order to win the independents.

This is why I am calling for Romney to adopt the example of Clark Griswold.  Clark showed America that you don’t have to settle for the ideals of the right or the left.  You can take your dog on the family vacation and simply drag it to death outside of the vehicle.  This is something that both sides can agree to.  The Romney family can embrace the seating arrangements and the President (and Mr. Vick) can appreciate the death factor.

I’m not sure any other issue in this campaign is better at showing the exposition of bi-partisan composition.

Drones have been successfully used by our military on the battlefield to hunt down and kill the enemies of America; however they have no place in the skies over America illegally spying on our citizens.  First off the constitution of the United States doesn’t permit it.  Our government is not permitted to harass us in this manner and looks as if that is exactly what the aim to do.  They’re going to package it up and present it in a manner so that it will appear that any sensible citizen would be in favor of it.  They will tell you that drones will help hunt down dangerous criminals and find missing or abducted children.  Who could possibly be against such things?  I’ll tell you who…me; especially when privacy and liberty will be sacrificed in the name of this so-called security.

Charles Krauthammer, who I consider to be one of the most reasonable political analyst out there weighs in on the debate in the below clip.

When Mr. Krauthammer comes out against this we need to pay attention.  He tends to walk on the right side of the political road but he’s not what the left would call extreme.

Like the judge said, the defense department cannot engage in this kind of activity on U.S. soil without an Executive Order.  Where is outrage from the citizenry and our elected officials that this unconstitutional idea is being promoted?  We hear absolutely nothing as more and more of our liberties are threatened.  This is the sad state of affairs we are in as a nation.  And maybe Shepard Smith framed it best when he said, “Should we just throw out the whole constitution…should we be operating by a new set of rules?”  That’s exactly what they have been trying do for the last 20 years Mr. Smith.  Welcome to the conversation.

A Portland, Oregon, campus of Mars Hill Church was recently vandalized by a group of homosexual activists. The group smashed nine windows with rocks, including two stained glass windows that were over 100 years old. Normally vandalism like this is anonymous, but this vandalism was meant to send a message. The vandals actually sent an email to a local TV station claiming responsibility for the vandalism and stating that they vandalized the church because “Mars Hill is notoriously anti-gay and anti-woman.” But there is nothing unusual about Mars Hill’s view on homosexual behavior and the church even holds itself out as simply believing what the Bible says about homosexuality.

So, let’s make sure that we make this clear. The left is tolerant, and so tolerant, that they will destroy the property of anyone that disagrees with them. After all, it’s the tolerant thing to do!

Politicians know the power behind these two distinct groups.  The former is courted for the power of their money and influence; the latter, for the power of their numbers and open schedule.  Few will make it very far in politics without one of these groups supporting you.  Wooing both would be ideal, but they are counter weights on the scale of partisan power.  You must choose a side, abandon both, or fool both of them into think you are their official.

Caligula wasn’t a fan of his predecessor Tiberius (few were) in Rome.  When Tiberius died (likely helped along by the hand of Caligula), he began to reverse the policies and practices of Tiberius.  As disgusting a human as Tiberius was, he was fairly successful as emperor and secured a very substantial treasury.  Having this monetary security, Tiberius began to pursue the former of that second group – the commoner (That is not to say that commoners are all lazy public leeches – most are hard-working self-sufficient individuals.  I am simply using the term out of convenience.).

Caligula was known to throw money out to the people for weeks at a time.  He would use the treasury to assist people who had lost their homes in disasters, build giant public buildings for games and events, and throw extravagant banquets to celebrate his reign.  That isn’t to say that he was a commoner himself.  He used those same funds to build two of the largest vessels and most extravagant party barges in the world, and threw them in Lake Nemi for his pleasure.  He built a temporary bridge with pontoons across the Bay of Baiae just to flaunt himself (and to defy a soothsayer).

His generosity with the empires money, however, made him a hero among the masses.  His policies began to center around gaining their support.  He increased the pay of the empire’s employees, instituted democratic voting (thumbing the face of the republic), and threw a lot of money into public gestures.  Philo tells us that he had thrown the entire front row (which is where the wealthy Romans sat) into the arena to be killed by the animals – much to the pleasure of the poorer individuals.

It is no surprise that his money ran out.  The public hero lost his luster when famine hit the empire could no longer throw money from the balconies.  In his first year Caligula wasted the entire treasury that Tiberius had saved up during his reign.  This forced Caligula to wage war on the wealthy Romans.  He seized their property, rewrote their wills in order to make him the beneficiary, he raised taxes, forced others to give him loans, and openly rob travelers.  Still, he couldn’t escape the financial crisis.  It took a short reign (Claudius was assassinated) and many good works by the Senate and Claudius to restore Rome to some extent.

Our current circumstances aren’t much different than that of Rome’s during the time of Caligula.  We have a President (among other politicians on both sides) who live lavish lifestyles on the public dime, but stay in power by persuading the poor that they are their advocates.  This is why they have supported the “Occupy Movement”, the stimulus packages, the health care bill, increases in minimum wage, increases in public assistance, and expansions of public services.  This is why they have attacked the wealthy, blamed them for the nation’s struggles, and seized more and more of your/their wealth.  They are desperate for their power and know how to keep it, but their end is demise.  If you are fool enough to follow the nonsensical, and dense enough to support the senseless, then you will follow their corruption to its ultimate failure.

History is trying to teach us a lesson.  You can either open your ears and adjust, or ignorantly praise your leader with an empty stomach while you feed Incitatus his golden oats.

During the 1600′s, the early Christians in England celebrated a day to honor Mary, the mother of Christ. By a religious order the holiday was later expanded in its scope to include all mothers, and named as the Mothering Sunday. Celebrated on the 4th Sunday of Lent (the 40 day period leading up to Easter), “Mothering Sunday” honored the mothers of England.

During this time many of the England’s poor worked as servants for the wealthy. As most jobs were located far from their homes, the servants would live at the houses of their employers. On Mothering Sunday, the servants would have the day off and were encouraged to return home and spend the day with their mothers. A special cake, called the mothering cake, was often brought along to provide a festive touch.

As Christianity spread throughout Europe the celebration changed to honor the “Mother Church” – the spiritual power that gave them life and protected them from harm. Over time the church festival blended with the Mothering Sunday celebration . People began honoring their mothers as well as the church.

With the passage of time, the practice of this fantastic tradition ceased slowly. The English colonists settled in America discontinued the tradition of Mothering Sunday because of lack of time.

In the United States, Mother’s Day was loosely inspired by the British day and was first suggested after the American Civil War by social activist Julia Ward Howe. Howe (who wrote the words to the Battle hymn of the Republic) was horrified by the carnage of the Civil War and the Franco-Prussian War and so, in 1870, she tried to issue a manifesto for peace at international peace conferences in London and Paris (it was much like the later Mother’s Day Peace Proclamation). During the Franco-Prussian war in the 1870s, Julia began a one-woman peace crusade and made an impassioned “appeal to womanhood” to rise against war. She composed in Boston a powerful plea that same year (generally considered to be the original Mothers’ Day proclamation*) translated it into several languages and distributed it widely. In 1872, she went to London to promote an international Woman’s Peace Congress. She began promoting the idea of a “Mother’s Day for Peace” to be celebrated on June 2, honoring peace, motherhood and womanhood. In the Boston Mass, she initiated a Mothers’ Peace Day observance on the second Sunday in June, a practice that was to be established as an annual event and practiced for at least 10 years. The day was, however, mainly intended as a call to unite women against war. It was due to her efforts that in 1873, women in 18 cities in America held a Mother’s Day for Pace gathering. Howe rigorously championed the cause of official celebration of Mothers Day and declaration of official holiday on the day.

It should be well to remember that Howe’s idea was influenced by Ann Marie Reeves Jarvis, a young Appalachian homemaker who, starting in 1858, had attempted to improve sanitation through what she called “Mothers Friendship Day”. In the 1900′s, at a time when most women devoted their time solely on their family and homes, Jarvis was working to assist in the healing of the nation after the Civil War. She organized women throughout the Civil War to work for better sanitary conditions for both sides and in 1868 she began work to reconcile Union and Confederate neighbors. Ann was instrumental in saving thousands of lives by teaching women in her Mothers Friendship Clubs the basics of nursing and sanitation which she had learned from her famous physician brother James Reeves, M.D. In parts of the United States it was customary to plant tomatoes outdoors after Mother’s Work Days (and not before).

It was Jarvis’ daughter, Anna Jarvis, who finally succeeded in introducing Mother’s Day in the sense as we celebrate it today. Anna graduated from the Female Seminary in Wheeling and taught in Grafton for a while. Later she moved to Philadelphia with her family. Anna had spent many years looking after her ailing mother. This is why she preferred to remain a spinster. When her mother died in Philadelphia on May 9, 1905, Anna missed her greatly. So did her sister Elsinore whom she looked after as well. Anna felt children often neglected to appreciate their mother enough while the mother was still alive. Now, she intended to start a Mother’s Day, as an honoring of the mothers. The first mother’s day was observed on May 10, 1908, by a church service honoring Late Mrs. Reese Jarvis, in the Andrews Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia, where she spent 20 years taking Sunday school classes.

Following this, it gained a widespread popularity across the nation. The Mother’s Day International Association came into being on December 12, 1912, to promote and encourage meaningful observances of the event. Anna’s dream came true when on May 9, 1914, the Presidential proclamation declared the 2nd Sunday of May to be observed as Mother’s Day to honor the mothers.

Once again Happy Mother’s Day!  Thanks for all the great articles.  You guys as always are the heat.  Have a great week.

The truth is for the last 100 years the progressives/liberals have piece by piece fundamentally transformed our nation before our very eyes from the nation our founding fathers established that viewed life, liberty and property rights as unalienable to a nation that can spy on (NSA), illegally search and seize (TSA), detain indefinitely (NDAA), and if necessary execute its citizens.  We have transformed into a nation where a government can regulate businesses out of business and seize your property in the name of conservation or national security.  If this is the nation that conservatives are trying to conserve, I will have none of it.  The nation I want to conserve or maybe better put “reestablish” is the constitutional republic our founding fathers established in 1787; a republic that placed strict limitations on governmental powers and empowered it citizens to govern themselves.  I want the nation that protects the rights of its citizens, not one that legislate them away when a crisis arises.  The question is how to we get there from here.  The deck appears to be stacked against us.

The first step in my opinion starts with you.  It’s time to look in the mirror and ask the hard questions.  I do this all the time because I too am evolving in terms of my political ideology.  I’m not the same conservative I was a year ago.  You must first determine how you feel about life, liberty, and property rights.  If you believe as the founders did that these are rights you were born with and not granted by some governmental entity you then must ask if the candidates you support on both the local and national level feel the same.  Do the candidates truly believe the constitution is a document that restrains the federal government or are they just saying they do to get your vote?  Look at their record.  Their actions will tell you more than the words they speak.  Just look at President Obama.  He says one thing then does another.  He’s a liar who doesn’t deserve our vote. Elizabeth Warren lied about having a Native American heritage.  Does she deserve the vote of Massachusetts voters?  The answer is no.  If you will lie about your heritage, you will lie about anything and these are the kind of people we can’t afford to send to Washington D.C. anymore.  Do you think the current system is broken; that politicians are overstepping its constitutional authority?  If the answer is yes, then as a conservative what are you trying to conserve?  As for me I would like to see the reestablishment of a constitutional republic, so does this make me a conservative or something else?

The answer is it makes me a person who wants to conserve the traditions and institutions that were established by the founding fathers and in these times it makes me a conservative on the outside looking in.  Today many conservatives appear more concerned about conserving the America we have become than reestablishing an America that made us special and unique amongst the nations of the world.  The America we have today is one that is slipping towards tyranny with each regulation implemented and each law passed, forcing one group of Americans to surrender their wages to support another.  Folks when the government confiscates a portion of your income (property) and gives it to another with the threat of incarceration (IRS) that’s slavery.  This is not the America I want to conserve.

Change starts within and spreads to the rest of the system.  Until conservatives determine what they truly stand for and what they truly want to conserve we will continue to march towards tyranny and slavery.  People will continue to vote for the candidate based on party affiliation or simply because they are not Obama and liberty will never be restore and the constitutional republic will never be reestablished.  As painful as that sounds, that’s how I see it.  Tell me how you see it.

In my opinion this move has less to do about the evolution of the President’s position and more about energizing his base and creating a distraction.  Think about this, the night before the President’s big coming out party a huge message was sent by the electorate that confirms what the polls have been saying for weeks; the President’s approval ratings are on the decline and progressivism is being rejected by the American people.  Americans are finally starting wake up.  They’re beginning to see that progressive policies are indeed destructive in terms of economic growth.  Conservatives are beginning to unite and independents are moving towards the right.  Unions are fractured as more and more members do not want to be associated with far left groups that promote socialism and communism. And an inmate incarcerated in Texas almost beat the President in the West Virginia Democratic primary.  This is the reality Obama sees and it doesn’t lead to a second term.

This is why I believe the President and his administration have been playing the gay community since Joe Biden sat down with NBC’s David Gregory and said he was “ absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men and women marrying another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties. “  This interview took place two days after the Labor Department released unemployment numbers that showed little or no improvement.  And these are numbers that impact people no matter what their sexual preference.  With the President’s approval numbers sinking faster than the Titanic the administration needed to shift the focus from the economy to some other topic that would distract the American people from the real issues that are causing them pain.

We have seen President Obama use this tactic three times since the turn of the year. First it was the catholic church and contraceptives, then the Rush Limbaugh Sandra Fluke controversy, then the “War on Women” and now we have Obama supporting same-sex marriage.  What do all those topics have in common?  They take focus off that fact that we are $5 trillion dollars more in debt since Obama took office.  They distract us from focusing on Obamacare, high gas prices, high unemployment rates, inflation, congress operating without a budget for three years; all factors contributing to our dismal economic growth.  You see they need Americans to get sucked into this debate because it has nothing to do with Obama’s track record and he’s using the gay community to advance it.

We deserve better than this.  We deserve an honest debate about the economic and spending issues that are dragging America down.  And when I say we, I mean all of us no matter what a person’s sexual preference.   Instead of the gay community applauding the President’s move, they should be insulted that he is using them to change the narrative from the issues that not only impact all of us, but issues that if we continue to ignore could bankrupt the nation.  They should also be insulted by the fact that the President thinks he can use this one issue to lock up the support and vote of the gay community.   My hope is nobody is that shallow…

How about that.  For someone who claims that no one got rich on their own changes her tune in an instant when she’s confronted with the charge that she might have taken opportunities away from Native Americans.  She now claims she was successful because of  hard work.  You can’t have it both ways Ms. Warren.  Either you don’t believe people can achieve success through hard work or you do?  Which is it?  Socialism is for the people not the socialists.  Elizabeth Warren is nothing more than a hypocrite who has taken advantage of the system she now bashes.  We must continue to shine the light on these deceptive politicians and vote people into office that will serve the people and not themselves.  Ms. Warren had been serving herself since her college days at the expense of the taxpayer.  What makes you think that anything will change if she goes to Washington.

The Heartland Institute, a Chicago-based rightwing thinktank notorious for promoting climate scepticism, has launched quite possibly one of the most ill-judged poster campaigns in the history of ill-judged poster campaigns.

I’ll let its own press release for its upcoming conference explain, as there’s simply no need to finesse it further:

Billboards in Chicago paid for by The Heartland Institute point out that some of the world’s most notorious criminals say they “still believe in global warming” – and ask viewers if they do, too…The billboard series features Ted Kaczynski, the infamous Unabomber; Charles Manson, a mass murderer; and Fidel Castro, a tyrant. Other global warming alarmists who may appear on future billboards include Osama bin Laden and James J. Lee (who took hostages inside the headquarters of the Discovery Channel in 2010).
These rogues and villains were chosen because they made public statements about how man-made global warming is a crisis and how mankind must take immediate and drastic actions to stop it.
Why did Heartland choose to feature these people on its billboards? Because what these murderers and madmen have said differs very little from what spokespersons for the United Nations, journalists for the “mainstream” media, and liberal politicians say about global warming. The point is that believing in global warming is not “mainstream,” smart, or sophisticated. In fact, it is just the opposite of those things. Still believing in man-made global warming – after all the scientific discoveries and revelations that point against this theory – is more than a little nutty. In fact, some really crazy people use it to justify immoral and frightening behavior.

But then comes the best bit:

Of course, not all global warming alarmists are murderers or tyrants.

Seriously? The Unabomber bombed out of concern for the environment. Bin Laden did speak of concern for the environment. It’s true! Now, for the flip side, what have alarmists said of people that see through the political power grab?

The idea is simple, if someone presents facts that run counter to the narrative, smear them, so no one will pay attention to the facts. Here is the latest example comes from Professor Kari Norgaard, via The GateWay Pundit…

Professor Kari Norgaard, from the University of Oregon, has labeled an entire population of people who think for themselves… racists. But, it’s even more absurd than that. If you reject the junk data, corruption, and blatant grab for power that is the Green Movement she wants you diagnosed with a disease. And treated.

Via Bluegrass Pundit, The Register reports,

Scepticism regarding the need for immediate and massive action against carbon emissions is a sickness of societies and individuals which needs to be “treated”, according to an Oregon-based professor of “sociology and environmental studies”. Professor Kari Norgaard compares the struggle against climate scepticism to that against racism and slavery in the US South.

According to an Oregon uni statement announcing the paper:

‘Resistance at individual and societal levels must be recognized and treated …

“This kind of cultural resistance to very significant social threat is something that we would expect in any society facing a massive threat,” [Norgaard] said.

The discussion, she said, is comparable to what happened with challenges to racism or slavery in the U.S. South.’

Well, I guess it not as bad as suggesting that people that don’t “cooperate” with the alarmist agenda be killed…

Oh wait!

Alrighty then, the Heartland Institute puts up billboards citing actual murderers that committed crimes in the name of the environment, or plan on using tyrants that supported the alarmist cause. That’s apparently bad. However, I seem to be missing the moral outrage over the two stories I covered in the past. I guess the lack of perspective there is a side effect of drinking the AGW Kool Aid. Or, as we like to call it, hypocrisy.
