Of course, the modern Tea Party isn’t the Tea Party of the 18^th century and the tax laws in America today don’t come from a foreign body.  The true parallel between the modern Tea Party and the original Tea Party isn’t their stance on taxation, but their stance on liberty.  The original Tea Party violently protested England’s tax on tea even though we had no say in those tax laws.  Any tax could have been forced on Americans and there was nothing that the people could do about it.  They weren’t against tax laws, they were against the tyranny of England and the lack of representation.

Americans have always had a problem with being forced to do anything (and rightly so).  Even the left has had a power struggle with big business.  It’s safe to say that a common theme from the left is that businesses that are too big and make too much money have the tendency to become abusive to their workers, environment, and competition.  Many of the laws written over the last century were for the purpose of wrangling in the power of big business.  It’s why we have Department of Labor, Environment Protection Agency, and Federal Trade Commission.

Nobody would argue that giant corporations are immune to these faults – especially when they become involved with government.  Few hold that there is no need for some government oversight to protect the people from abuse.  What we’re seeing today, however, is that the federal government’s checks and balance system isn’t strong enough to halt the abuses of its own power.  Further, no business of any size can force you to buy their product – but the fed has just proved that it can by penalty of law.  So literally the same people who have proven they aren’t trustworthy and impartial in practice are now going to be in charge of your requirement to buy health care.

If this were a big business forcing such actions and committing such abuses then the left would be outraged, but since it is their big business and the abuse is against the right, they are in a defensive stance.  Progressivism unhinged is beginning to reveal its true merits.  Most of us have known what outcomes it would bring and our founders understood more than 300 years ago.  Power brings corruption due to lack of accountability.  The fed is too big and its time we begin to right that wrong.

Of course, liberals will say this is racism, and should be banned, stamped out, and anyone engaging in it be publicly hounded and harassed.

Of course, if they were communists, Anti-Semitic, burnt or vandalized businesses, raped women, encouraged the raped women not to report the rape, beat up camera men, threw police officers in front of buses, and so on, that would have been the finest example of civil disobedience ever!

Leaders in any organization set the tone through example and their enforcement or non-enforcement of the standards.  When a leader’s example sets a terrible tone in an organization this is this tone their mid to lower level managers will feed off of.  They will have their template as a model for all their actions.  President Obama is the leader of the Democratic Party.  He has set the tone for the Party and that tone has been extremely negative and combative towards any political opposition.  Members of his party take their cue from his tone.

This explains why seven Democratic Senators led by Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) warned the IRS back in 2012 that if they didn’t crack down on political groups that were improperly claiming tax-exempt status they would introduce legislation to force their hand.  We now know what this meant.  Was it enough to swing an election?  Maybe.  However this action by these Senators happened because of the tone set by the Democratic Party leader (President Obama).

Over the last few weeks as these scandals have unfolded we have learned a great deal about our government under this administration.  We have the IRS using the power we the people entrusted to them to suppress political opposition.  We have a Department of Justice secretly seizing the phone records of Associated Press reporters and an Attorney General of the United States claiming he had nothing to do with it.  And finally we have Benghazi and the editing of talking points by someone or some agency yet to be named.

All these major scandals have three things in common.  The first is a breakdown in discipline on all three fronts.  When discipline breaks down in any organization standards no longer matter.  Rules no longer matter.  And in this instance for two out of the three scandals the constitution no longer matters.  The second thing that all these scandals have in common is the President was either out of the loop or can’t talk about it.  Our consulate was attacked in Benghazi and our President was…well know one really knows where he was for sure.  The one place he wasn’t that night was in the situation room.  Our IRS was suppressing political opposition using the tax code and the President didn’t know anything about it.  And finally the super secret operation that seized the phone records of AP journalists…well this is an ongoing DOJ investigation that the President and Attorney General can’t talk about.  And finally the third thing they all have in common is that all the agencies that these scandals are coming out of fall under the President of the United States.  And he knew nothing.  That simply will not do.

The President needs to be held accountable.  He is the CEO of America and we the people are the stakeholders.  We hired him in a temporary position to do a job and he has failed to do.  Whether through dereliction of duty, not fulfilling the responsibilities of his office, or outright incompetence this President has failed the stakeholders he works for.  We can no longer turn a blind eye to the terrible standards this man has set.  We must start thinking about the kind of America we want to pass on to the next generation and this President should not be a part of that conversation.

A scandal is defined as the following:

1. a disgraceful or discreditable action, circumstance, etc.

2. an offense caused by a fault or misdeed.

3. damage to reputation; public disgrace.

4. defamatory talk; malicious gossip.

5. a person whose conduct brings disgrace or offense.

Make no mistake by its very definition three major scandals are at the doorstep of the Obama administration.  These are not the first scandals that have enveloped this administration (Fast and Furious and recess appointments) but they seem to be the ones that have gained the most traction.  At the end of the day I’m not convinced that any of these scandals will touch Obama, and truthfully I’m not sure it matters.  The damage is done.  The Tea Party movement has been jumped started again and no matter where each of these scandals takes us the administration will struggle to advance their agenda through congress.

The IRS scandal appears to be the one that is gaining the most traction.  I believe there are two reasons for this.  The first reason is the IRS is the one agency that most Americans are extremely leery of because of the power it wields and the potential negative impact it can have on each of us.  This leads us into the second reason the scandal is gaining traction.  People can relate to it because it touches all of our lives.  No one likes a bully and right now the IRS is the biggest bully in Washington D.C.  And in my opinion this is the scandal the Obama administration needs to worry about the most because as the layers of this onion get peeled back it will get worse.  The more revealing the abuse becomes the more people will connect the dots and see that absolute power corrupts absolutely.   And that’s what Tea Party activists have been saying all along.  The irony is the same entity that sought to silence their voice is the one that will give legitimacy to their argument.  Oh what a tangled web we weave….  Now on to the LINKs.

The stories are to be found on the biggest political blog in the world, but they were buried for bigger headlines like Angelina’s mastectomy and the ills of cheap labor overseas.  All of those recent stories on the scandal subjects are, of course, in defense of the administration.  Go figure.

Peter Goodman praises the IRS for going after the Tea Party groups:

“In castigating government as the root of all evil while portraying taxation as a form of tyranny, the Tea Party is no less than a mass celebration of the evasion of the basic responsibilities of American citizenship. Common sense alone tells you that people drawn to its ranks may feel extra temptation to find ways to limit what they surrender to the rogue federal bureaucrats who have supposedly seized the nation.”

I wonder if Goodman would be so inclined to allow the IRS to go after Muslim groups because those who are drawn to its ranks may feel extra temptation to fund terrorism.  It’s funny how the words “equality” and “fair” are thrown around by liberals until they get a chance to stick it to the right.  The right doesn’t deserve equality though because, as I’ve been told, we are the ones who abuse equality; apparently by being wealthy, white, and capitalists (I can only claim the last one with certainty).

The rest of the lemmings at HuffPo have written these scandals off as political attacks.  Their sentiments can be wrapped up in the first line of the genius of Barbra Streisand, “Sometimes in the face of national tragedy, politics should take a backseat”.  Unless that tragedy is due to politics.  The most obvious response to this kind of blind protectionist rhetoric is that all of these scandals are political in nature.  I don’t remember her bypassing politics when it came to her stance on 9/11’s inside job.

Sadly, they’re all the same.  They all poo poo the failures of this administration and continue to find excuses for the President.  Why is this?  Why continue to support someone who has failed us so often?  Even Chris Matthews and Jon Stewart this week have had to publically cast their doubts to the sainthood of Obama.  Those doubts will diminish as these stories fade and their love for him will return (it took Chris 22 minutes).  I think that Gutfeld had it right in his first Breitbart piece (yay!),

“In fact, the media are so desperate to be liked by Obama that they are willing to overlook anything unseemly. When I look at the multitude of scandals, I cannot blame the President. My disgust is reserved for the media who let him wander so far off the reservation–because they love him more than their own principles.”

He goes on to call the media Obama’s enablers not unlike a drug addicts mom who refuses to cut him off for fear of losing his love.  Meanwhile the addict feeds off of that love, money, and attention.  This is the second reason this is political.  The media has not done its job.  When Nixon committed his political crimes, the media was ready and willing to ready the noose.  That’s what the media is for, to get the tough and dirty truths to the people so that we can hold them accountable.  When the media is in bed with those in government, who passes on the pillow talk?  Partisans!

Thankfully we also have bloggers and conservative groups who are ready and willing to take the responsibility of the old media, which is perhaps the motive behind the IRS scandal.

I’m not sure how deep the rabbit hole runs on this one.  I do know that a majority of Americans are still not tuned into any of these scandals and why I will not be surprised if all of them eventually run out of gas.  It’s just the way it is in America.  Too many people have their heads and the sand and they can’t see that their liberties are being stripped from them.

• He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

• He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

• He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

• He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

• He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

• He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

• He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

• He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

• He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

• He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

• He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

• For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:

• For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

• For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

• He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

• He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

• He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

• He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

Are you tracking with me.  Tyranny is tyranny no matter how you slice it and no matter who tries to put a smiley face on it.

Today was a work day,,,in the yard,  This is why my Sunday link round-up is getting out so late.  This winter was extremely hard on my grass and it’s having a very difficult time of it.  So yesterday and today I spent most of the day raking, aerating, fertilizing and watering my back and front yard.  Anyone who knows me knows I’m about my yard; something I got from my father.  So I’ve been going at it full throttle for the past two days.  It was a very busy week in the news from the Benghazi hearing to the IRS targeting conservative organizations.  I was telling a friend that it feels as if things are beginning to come undone for the administration at least from a conservative viewpoint. None of this matters if 2/3 of Americans remain asleep in regards to the issues.  And if the MSM decides not to report the stories, most of them will continue to sleep through these scandals and vote for the next politician who promises them the world.

Mr. Goldberg nailed it when he said, “Because there are Millions and millions and millions of Americans who are like babies who like to follow shiny objects. These people don’t care about Benghazi…”  The uninformed voter strikes again and this is a major problem in America.  Because a majority of people don’t care about Benghazi this administration will get away with their cover-up and none of this will touch Hillary.  Today this is the America that most people can live with.  And this is why we’re in decline.  Nothing will change until people wake up and right now there are no signs of this happening anytime soon.
