Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Easter Sunday edition)
Happy Easter! Today Christians all around the world mark the end of holy week with a celebration of the glorious resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. Today is a day for meaningful reflection on His life, ministry, death, and resurrection. Now more than ever we need the Christ mindset in our lives as Christians both home and abroad are under attack by secular and Islamic forces. Here at home our most basic and sacred beliefs are being questioned and at times ridiculed by forces who wish to diminish the importance Christianity plays in our society. This persecution is only going to intensify in the near future so we must remain rock solid in our faith and belief that in the end love will indeed prevail and the forces of darkness … Read entire article »

Three Mile Island: A look back at America’s worst nuclear accident
On this day in 1979 America experienced its worst nuclear accident at the Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant. I lived about two hours north of Harrisburg and remember reading a book on our living room floor as my parents sat in their chairs, eyes glued to the special report that was covering the event. I of course had no idea how serious the event was; however by the look on my parents face they most definitely understood how serious it was. Today I want to take the time to reflect back on 28 March 1979. Below is a five part PBS documentary on the accident. Please take some time to watch the clips. It really makes you think how lucky we were on that day considering how close we were … Read entire article »

Bill O’Reilly & Glenn Beck discuss the indoctrination of our children and “Common Core”
Glenn Beck sat down with Bill O’Reilly last night and discussed the indoctrination of our children this is taking place in our public schools. Glenn Beck touched on a standard called “Common Core” and how it’s designed to dumb down our children. Listen to the below exchange between Mr. Beck and Mr. O’Reilly. Mr. Beck discusses “Common Core” in more detail in the below clip. It’s 28 minutes long but definitely worth the watch. Folks this is a very serious issue. We cannot allow our children to be indoctrinated by the left or right and we cannot allow our children to be cheated from acquiring the critical thinking and problem solving skills needed to be successful in life. If “Common Core” is as bad as Mr. Beck asserts, then it must be … Read entire article »

Cultural Marxists Argue to Assert Who is the Greatest Victim…
Take a look at the following video, as the moonbats argue to vie over the greater slice of the victim pie. Apparently, their victim-hood is just like their economic model, and it’s a zero sum game. There is only so much victimization to go around, so they have to fight and struggle their greater slice of the victim-hood pie. Think uber victim. Try to watch a few minutes… Ok, there is a lot of screaming and talking in circles, but you get the gist of it. There was much offense taken, butthurt inflicted, and drama generated. I particularly enjoyed the part in which they complained that they were being talked over. As leftists, they ought to know that this is one of their chief tool. You see, in the world of … Read entire article »

Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Palm Sunday edition)
Palm Sunday celebrates the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the week before He was crucified and His resurrection. It marks the beginning of Holy Week for Christians throughout the world. Matthew 21:1-11 (KJV): 1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, 2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied , and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. 3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say , The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. 4 All this was done , that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, … Read entire article »

Patrick Henry was willing to trade his life for the cause of liberty
Do Americans care about liberty anymore? I often wonder. Just look at the last few weeks and ask yourself if liberty matters to Americans. In New Jersey we had a woman ( Eileen Hart) who attended a public informal meeting and protested a reevaluation of her property value; one that significantly increased her tax rate. Se below. Ms. Hart attended the meeting, armed with- as she said “her Constitution and the facts.” Said Hart “I tried to express my opinion and tell them that my Constitutional rights had been violated. I began quoting the Constitution, line by line. Ms. Hart tried to explain, that Appraisal Systems, Inc. was attempting to inspect her property without her husband being present. As an Orthodox Jew, this is against the tenets of her religion. Her husband … Read entire article »

Dr. Ben Carson: Will anybody have the honesty to own up to that ObamaCare is a disaster?
Nancy Pelosi famously said “We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it.” Well that 2,700 page bill she was referring to was passed three years ago and everyone is finally starting feel what’s in it and what’s in it is a complete disaster. Let’s face it, ObamaCare is destroying our healthcare system in ways you can’t even begin to fathom. Since 2011 Republicans have had multiple opportunities to de-fund ObamaCare and have done nothing, Dr. Ben Carson sat down with Neil Cavuto and discussed how disastrous ObamaCare really is for Americans. Below is a clip of this exchange. One of the main architects of ObamaCare says it’s going to be messy. Really? I guess this is why our elected officials should actually read the … Read entire article »

Harry Reid shamelessly tries to link Marine deaths to sequestration
Harry Reid tried to link the tragic deaths of seven Marines to the sequester cuts. This is about as low as a politician can go in my opinion. And it’s no surprise that Harry Reid is that politician who shamelessly politicized the death of seven of America’s finest in order to advance an agenda. Check out the below clip. This guy is absolutely despicable. He cares very little about the death of these Marines. He only cares about the Democratic agenda; which is an agenda that includes higher taxes and bigger government. So everything he does, he does to advance this agenda and that’s why he tried to link this terrible accident to sequester cuts. The truth is this accident had nothing to do with sequester cuts. It was a terrible … Read entire article »

Propaganda Against Patriots Continues to Escalate
I’s seeing several alarming factor emerging-a convergence, if you will. Starting right after Obama assumed office, we saw propaganda against patriotic Americans increase. This was more than picking up where the Clinton administration left off, it has been more organized and persistent. It started with the MIAC report, followed thereafter by the DHS report. The latest example comes via The Scottcarp Dream… The LA Times published an article recently on how America is at risk of another terrorist attack, but not from jihadists: “There are, in increasingly frightening numbers, cells of angry men in the United States preparing for combat with the U.S. government. They are usually heavily armed, blinded by an intractable hatred, often motivated by religious zeal. They’re not jihadists. They are white, right-wing Americans, … Read entire article »

Let me say this one more time…John Boehner must go
How would most conservatives answer these two questions? Do you trust President Obama? Is there an immediate debt crisis? I believe most conservatives would answer the first question with either a NO or the President hasn’t done anything to gain my trust. Now on to the second question. Most conservatives in the real world are smart enough to realize that if we’re at the point of printing money out of thin air (QE4ever) to make up the difference that revenues do not cover in terms of government spending then our debt crisis is indeed an immediate one. Now listen to how Speaker of the House John Boehner answered both questions on ABC’s This Week. Speaker Boehner believes he has an open and honest relationship with the President and absolutely trust him. … Read entire article »

Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (St. Patrick’s edition)
Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone. It was another busy week in the news. Let’s see we had CPAC, a new pope, Sen. Ted Cruz schooling Sen. Dianne Feinstein on the constitution, sequester cuts impacting military tuition assistance, and the President claiming we don’t have a debt problem. The President’s polls numbers are going down and it looks as if we have a few stars in the Republican Party starting to emerge. All and all it was a pretty good week for conservatism as the left continues to overreach. Today is St. Patrick’s Day so make sure you wear something green! Now on to the links. Below are links to outstanding conservative articles. Please take the time to visit them and when you are there hit their tip jars if they have … Read entire article »

Senator Ted Cruz schools Senator Feinstein like a sixth grader
Every now and then we get to see the true face of liberalism and yesterday we got a rare glimpse of it in Senator Dianne Feinstein’s response to Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s question about the constitutionality of a gun ban imposed by the federal government. Below is the clip of that exchange. Senator Feinstein might not be a sixth grader but she was sure schooled like one yesterday. And like a sixth grader who has failed to do their homework she was woefully unprepared for Senator Cruz’s quiz. And when you’re not prepared for a quiz you panic. Yesterday Senator Feinstein lost her cool and resorted to the same old tactics of the left when the facts are working against them. You make an emotional appeal to the crowd regardless of … Read entire article »

Mark Levin wants John Boehner and the Republican leadership removed
Most of you know I’m no fan of John Boehner. It was an epic failure by the House Republicans when they voted him back in as Speaker this past January. The Republicans once again let an opportunity get away from them to turn this thing around and make a difference. Today I was listening to Sean Hannity on the radio and he was interviewing John Boehner. Nothing Boehner said inspired or gave me hope as a conservative. He is the poster child for the establishment and as long as he remains as Speaker of the House conservatism will suffer. Today Mark Levin commented on the interview and he didn’t mince words when it came to how he felt. Last week when Boehner and the Republican leadership passed a continuing resolution that … Read entire article »

Sequestration Answers for Military Members
After adjusting for inflation our federal spending, post sequestration, is back to 2009 levels. In 2009 military members had tuition assistance. Why is it then that if our spending levels are the same that we don’t have tuition assistance available for military members? Why is it that, if this isn’t an actual cut to federal spending that the military is getting real cuts to spending? Why is it that promised domestic spending programs (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Obamacare) aren’t touched, but benefits of military members who have spent the past 10 years at war are being cut? There are a lot of questions that military members are asking right now because this is starting to actually affect them and they don’t understand why or what else might happen. I will attempt … Read entire article »

Military Tuition Assistance becomes a casualty of the “Great Sequester Scam”
Many members of my Air Force family are feeling the pain of the sequester. A benefit they receive for their military service has been suspended due to sequester “cuts.” The Military Tuition Assistance program helps members of our Armed Forces offset the cost of college and helps them achieve their educational goals. I myself used the program to complete my degree program while I was active duty and was grateful it was there. Yesterday those educational goals were put on hold for many after the Air Force announced it was suspending its popular Tuition Assistance program for the remainder of the fiscal year and possibly into the next fiscal year. We have an all volunteer force that is woefully underpaid for the job they do each day. These unselfish highly trained … Read entire article »

Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs: (political beliefs and your job edition)
More and more I know people who claim they have lost their jobs or were passed over for promotion because of their political beliefs. Last week rumors swirled around “The View’s” Elisabeth Hasselbeck being released from her contract because her political views were clashing with the audience. We often hear of conservative actors and actresses keeping their political beliefs and activities private because they fear of being blacklisted by a liberal movie industry. Just a few days ago a friend of mine who is liberal and voted for Obama learned that the owner of the company she worked for let her go because of her political beliefs. This is a trend that appears to be on the uptick in a nation that is becoming increasingly politically divided. And this divide … Read entire article »

Battle Lines Drawn
Mr. Paul’s filibuster was a big deal for reasons other than the obvious. Sure, it’s great that he forced the Attorney General to admit that what they had previously condoned was actually illegal. It’s excellent that he got some face time for a very important issue that otherwise wouldn’t have been talked about. I’m happy that it has garnered support from the left and the right (that’s the first bit of bipartisanship I’ve seen in ages). Still, that’s not what is most important to me. What has me excited is that two GOP senators, who were eating with the President at the time of the filibuster, ended up being the only people to strongly oppose Rand’s actions. Sen. McCain and Sen. Graham were quick to support the “we are at war” mantra as … Read entire article »

Rand Paul: Standing on principle!
Finally someone in Washington is standing up for our constitution and our individual rights it protects and it’s damn refreshing to see. Senator Rand Paul has had enough of a President who appears more than willing to shred the constitution by not restricting the use of drones on American citizens on U.S. soil. After receiving a statement from Attorney General Eric Holder that hinted at the possibility of using a drone to kill Americans inside the United States Rand Paul decided to take his case to the floor of the Senate and filibuster President Obama’s CIA nominee John Brennan until he receives an assurance from the White House that drones would not be used against American citizens on U.S. soil. Holder struggled to give a straight forward answer when questioned by … Read entire article »

President Obama wants to make the sequester cuts as painful as possible
Last week Paul Ryan offered President Obama the flexibility to manage the sequester cuts and the President threatened to veto any such legislation. Charles Brown an official at the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service agency asked if he could spread the sequester cuts in his region to minimize the impact and was told in an internal email not to do anything that would lesson the dire impacts the Congress had been warned of. We have gone on record with a notification to Congress and whoever else that ‘APHIS would eliminate assistance to producers in 24 states in managing wildlife damage to the aquaculture industry, unless they provide funding to cover the costs.’ So it is our opinion that however you manage that reduction, you need to make sure you … Read entire article »

The struggle to define the role of government is causing us to lose our republic…
One of the reasons why our government has grown so massive and out of control is because the governed has struggled to understand the role government is supposed to play in our lives. Does government protect rights or create rights? Should government create laws to secure the people or secure our rights? Earlier today my blogging partner Right Hand Man posted the following comment on his Facebook page: “Within the last week I’ve had conversations with three different people who hold the unfortunate belief that our government is here to define and protect our freedoms. If this is the majority of Americans, then we’ve lost this republic already.” One of our friends asked, “So what is the government for?” Below is my response to this question. The founders believed that government should … Read entire article »

Conservative on the surface…until you peel back the layers
On the surface North Dakota appears to be one of the more conservative states in the union; however when you start to peel back the layers you begin to see something quite different. Every other year North Dakota’s legislators come together and currently we’re in the middle of one of our legislative cycles. On a paper we’re one of the reddest states in the union. Our House has 94 members and only 23 are Democrats. In the Senate 14 out of 47 members are Democrats. So out of 141 legislators 104 are Republicans with a Republican governor. With that kind of lineup it should be a slam dunk for conservatism in the great state of North Dakota. I mean there’s no way the big government policies and programs of the … Read entire article »

Worst Case Scenario of Sequester is Far Better Than the Porkulus
Ah the infamous sequester-those automatic spending cuts that kick in if the Republicans don’t compromise give in to every single demand or whim Obama makes. Estimates from the screaming left claim that 750,000 jobs will be lost due to the sequester (which Obama protected, under threat of veto). However, those same leftists don’t seem to be all that concerned with all the people that are losing their jobs due to ObamaCare, but I digress. However, even if the 750,000jobs lost figure is correct, it’s still a drop in the bucket compared to all the job losses after the stimulus Porkulus passed. That spending débâcle, that cost more than Bush’s entire Iraq war, caused over 5,000,000 jobs to go away. Gateway Pundit (who has yet to link this site), has more… Well, … Read entire article »

Another great one from Judge Napolitano! In this clip he believes the President can be impeached if he fails to ensure that the laws are faithfully executed as they relate to the sequestration. We all know people who are good at telling a scary story. My childhood friend was a master at it. He would draw in his audience and force them to emotionally commit to the story, then at the right moment when all were immersed he would spring the trap and scare the crap out of them. President Obama reminds me of this friend. He knows how to spin a tale, appeal to the emotions of the uninformed masses, and then scare the crap out them in hopes it will force them to act. He’s masterful at playing to the prejudices and emotions of people in order to advance an agenda and hopes he can get buy in of constituents of conservative representatives. One the way home from work I was listening to Mark Levin and he read this outstanding article by Angelo Codevilla. If you’re feeling that the Republican Party is leaving you, well you need to read the below article. It’s a bit long but it’s well worth the read. As Country Club Republicans Link Up With The Democratic Ruling Class, Millions Of Voters Are Orphaned by Angelo Codevilla On January 1, 2013 one third of Republican congressmen, following their leaders, joined with nearly all Democrats to legislate higher taxes and more subsidies for Democratic constituencies. Two thirds voted no, following the people who had elected them. For generations, the Republican Party had presented itself as the political vehicle for Americans whose opposition to ever-bigger government financed by ever-higher taxes makes them a “country … Read entire article »

The other day I was having a conversation with an individual who like many on the left believes the rich needs to pay more in taxes. When I asked why he believed this, he responded, “Because they can afford it and it’s the only fair thing to do.” So my follow-up question was why can’t we afford it? I could see the question caught him off guard. He asked me to explain what I meant. I said, “Why has it become more difficult for us to achieve success so that one day we too may reach the tax bracket you are proposing for the rich.” I could tell by the tilt of his head and the perplexed look on his face he was struggling to come up with a rational … Read entire article »

How Republicans Can Win: Some Thoughts
Via Powerlineblog comes this excerpt from David Horowitz’s pamphlet “Go For the Heart: How Republicans Can Win”, which gives some good advice to those who would advance the protection of life, liberty, and property because out of the two parties only the Republican Party right now contains a sizable portion of people that are fighting for these values. From the pamphlet: …After voters re-elected an administration that added five trillion dollars to the nation’s debt, left 23 million Americans unemployed, surrendered Iraq to America’s enemy Iran, and enabled the Muslim Brotherhood to gain control of the largest country in the Middle East, the one lesson Republicans should agree on is that elections are driven by emotions, not reason. Moreover, when it comes to mobilizing emotions, Democrats beat Republicans hands down. Worse, Republicans … Read entire article »

Don’t be surprised if the President doesn’t address the “State of the Union”…be shocked if he does
Tonight the President will give his “State of the Union” address and nothing he says will address the “State of the Union.” He will talk about his agenda. He will criticize his opponents. He will touch on every hot button issue except the issue he is there to report on; the “State of the Union.” The truth is we the people already know the “State of the Union” because we feel it every single day. For the first time in my working career I took a pay cut this year when the payroll tax went up. Gas prices are at their highest level ever for this time of the year. This past Friday night I went to the local sporting goods store to purchase some 9mm rounds for some range practice. I made my way to the back where the hand gun ammunition is located and the shelves were empty. Almost all of the more common calibers were gone. Now for those who are avid shooters and frequent gun ranges from some recreational shooting this is not a surprise. In fact for the past few months’ ammunition for the more common calibers has been in short supply. Now there are a number of theories out there as to why ammunition is in short supply. They range from conspiratorial to supply and demand. I personally embrace the supply and demand theory. Ever since the Sandy Hook shootings and the record increase … Read entire article »

How the World Continues
Too often it is the case that we focus on what is wrong with the world rather than what is right. That truth spans through various positions of criticism be it politics, economics, or faith. On the latter, I have often heard scoffers of faith (specifically Christianity) speak of the ill that Christianity has brought the world as a way of demeaning the religion. I must reject this notion. I cannot deny that evil men have taken the banner of Christianity and have done terrible things with its power, but Christianity has harmed no one. It cannot. The purpose of this post, however, is not to defend the faith, but to point out the goodness of people. Frequently our attention is turned to those who choose to do wrong, who harm … Read entire article »

The ratio of Representatives and those who they represent is way out of scale creating an unmanageable environment on the national level. Frugal Cafe has more… In December, The Journal News in suburban New York had no problem with publicizing online the names and addresses of American citizens who legally own guns, just as the names and addresses of convicted sex offenders are provided to the public. The interactive map of law-abiding gun owners in three New York counties put targets on their backs, and it alerted bad guys of who in those counties are not gun owners. Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (16th Amendment edition)
The progressive era of the early 1900s did very little to progress individual liberty and freedom. In fact the fundamental transformation they pushed for and achieved via the ratification of the 16th and 17th amendments radically changed the relationship between the states and the individual in regards to the federal government. Today marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 16th amendment. The 16th amendment is perhaps the most destructive amendment in our constitution as it relates to individual liberty and freedom. It authorizes and gives the federal government the power to confiscate our wealth which is our property to grow and expand the size of government. It shackles and enslaves each of us by forcing us to work for an entity that will take our wages and redistribute … Read entire article »
