The spirit of Paul Revere and William Dawes still lives in those who love liberty

On this day in 1775  Paul Revere and Dr. William Dawes set out on horseback from Boston to warn Patriot leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock that the British regulars were marching on Lexington and to arrest them and then on to Concord to confiscate the weapons hidden there by the colonists.  Below is an account of the event. By 1775, tensions between the American colonies and the British government had approached the breaking point, especially in Massachusetts, where Patriot leaders formed a shadow revolutionary government and trained militias to prepare for armed conflict with the British troops occupying Boston. In the spring of 1775, General Thomas Gage, the British governor of Massachusetts, received instructions from Great Britain to seize all stores of weapons and gunpowder accessible to the American insurgents. … Read entire article »

Bill Maher believes the second amendment is “bullsh*t”

Bill Maher and his brain trust discuss the second amendment and gun rights in the below clip. These people are absolutely clueless about the second amendment and why the right of the people to bear arms is so important.  They believe in the notion that an all powerful benevolent government would never impose its will on the people.  The one thing I noticed was as the conversation progressed Bob Costas began to reveal just who he was. According him those who support our right to bear arms are all paranoid.  He states we’re paranoid because we’re afraid the government might one day go too far and grow out of control.  Well Mr. Costas I wonder if the Founding Fathers were just as paranoid when it came to the people having the … Read entire article »

Senator John Hoeven must stand with the “New Blood” or risk losing my support

I’ve never been a single issue voter; but that long held position was pushed to its limit when I found out my senator (John Hoeven) voted to allow debate in the Senate on gun control.  I was so mad I went to his Facebook page and posted the following; “I will not support you again Senator. You know this vote opens the door for a Democratic majority to ram through whatever they want with a simple majority vote. You knew this and you voted for it any way. Today you stood against the constitution and the peoples’ right to bear arms. You should be ashamed of yourself. “ I meant every word at the time. Mark Levin hammered the 16 Republican Senators who voted to move forward with the debate.  He stated … Read entire article »

John McCain just doesn’t get it…

This past weekend Senators John McCain and Chuck Schumer attacked the plan by a hand full of Republicans to filibuster any gun control bill that might be brought up in the Senate.  Check out the below clip. Katie Pavlich from Townhall.com wrote a great article on this topic a few weeks ago.  In the article she stated that a filibuster would be a “brilliant move by Paul and Cruz. Reid has already had the ability to protect Democrats from voting on the assault weapons ban, but a filibuster on criminalization legislation would force Reid to either try and stop the talking, which will bring attention to gun control efforts of vulnerable Democrats or will be forced to allow a filibuster to continue, preventing a vote on the legislation.“  You can read … Read entire article »

Countering Mayor Bloomberg’s anti-gun ad campaign…

Mayor Bloomberg is a typical statist who believes we the people can not be trusted with self-governance.  That all of our actions must be managed by some governmental agency or policy.  We simply do not know what is best for us, so he’s more than willing to spend his money to run ads that tells us what he thinks is best for us in regards to gun control and background checks and quite frankly I find this insulting and offensive on so many levels.  These ads are to be used to sway or shift public opinion in regards to gun control to the left and that concerns me.  The left is very effective at using propaganda to sway and win the hearts and minds of the uninformed and with each … Read entire article »

Senator Ted Cruz schools Senator Feinstein like a sixth grader

Every now and then we get to see the true face of liberalism and yesterday we got a rare glimpse of it in Senator Dianne Feinstein’s response to Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s question about the constitutionality of a gun ban imposed by the federal government.  Below is the clip of that exchange. Senator Feinstein might not be a sixth grader but she was sure schooled like one yesterday.  And like a sixth grader who has failed to do their homework she was woefully unprepared for Senator Cruz’s quiz.  And when you’re not prepared for a quiz you panic.  Yesterday Senator Feinstein lost her cool  and resorted to the same old tactics of the left when the facts are working against them.  You make an emotional appeal to the crowd regardless of … Read entire article »

The President has no constitutional authority to restrict or ban certain types of weapons…period!

The President held a press conference today and the main topics were the debt ceiling and gun control.  At one point during the conference President Obama my the following statement: “My understanding is the vice president’s going to provide a range of steps that we can take to reduce gun violence,” said Obama. “Some of them will require legislation, some of them I can accomplish through executive action. And so I will be reviewing those today, and as I said, I will speak in more detail to what we’re going to go ahead and propose later in the week. But I’m confident that there are some steps that we can take that don’t require legislation and that are within my authority as president, and where you get a step that, has … Read entire article »

The power of words: Common Sense

On this day in 1776 Thomas Paine published his pamphlet “Common Sense.”  This 47-page pamphlet made the arguments in favor of American independence.  Mr. Paine’s use of plain language spoke to the common people of America. It was also the first published pamphlet that openly argued for independence.  The powerful words of Mr. Paine helped galvanize a movement that before Common Sense was published was a scattered grumbling at best. Paine fundamentally changed the tenor of colonists’ argument with the crown when he wrote the following:  “Europe, and not England, is the parent country of America.  This new world hath been the asylum for the persecuted lovers of civil and religious liberty from every part of Europe.  Hither they have fled, not from the tender embraces of the mother, but from … Read entire article »

Fiscal Cliff: Republicans and the Art of Surrender…

I have been saying all along that more than likely the framework of a fiscal cliff deal was crafted months ago and that all we’re seeing now is nothing more than political theater.  The actual plan was probably hammered out by leaders from both parties and the President before the election and now they’re putting on a show for the American people.  They’re playing us.  As more of the plan leaks out you will see that real spending cuts are not even addressed.  This is about raising revenue to continue the expansion of government, further shackling the American people and both parties desire this state.  Substantial spending cuts and entitlement reforms downsize the size of government and no one in Washington really wants that. This is why entitlement reforms were taken … Read entire article »

Founding Fathers’ Quotes on the People’s Right to Bear Arms

Just three days after the horrible shooting in Newtown Connecticut, progressive forces are in full “never let a crisis go to waste” mode to advance their anti-gun agenda.  They have allowed no time for mourning and are striking while the iron is hot.  It’s a selfish and shameful act that is driving the national debate towards gun control and the away from the root cause of our problem; the devaluing of human life.  I decided that the best people to help make the case for those of us who cherish America and our second amendment rights are our founding fathers.  Below are some quotes from the founders on the people’s right to bear arms.  Take a few minutes to read them. “I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the … Read entire article »

Can the solution to gun violence against the individual be found in an old “Cold War” policy?

It has been 12 days since the terrible shooting event in Aurora Colorado and I can’t help but think if there was just one armed citizen in that theater the injuries and deaths may have been greatly reduced.  One well-placed shot by a law abiding citizen exercising their 2nd amendment rights may have made a huge difference.  I have always believed the more guns in the hands of responsible citizens the less chance of violent gun crimes.  It follows the same principle of the old cold war policy of “Mutually Assured Destruction” (MAD). For those of you who are unfamiliar with this policy it’s the theory that in regards to nuclear powers neither side would launch an attack against the other if both sides are guaranteed to be totally destroyed.  It’s … Read entire article »

Documents Show that Government used Fast and Furious to Justify More Gun Control

If you think back to 2009, you’d recall that we were being told that the violence in Mexico was being fueled by american guns. Of course, as we later found, that this was at least partially true-because our own DOJ sent them there. Yesterday, CBS stated that they had documents that showed that the ATF was acting on this “crisis” in order to increase regulations… ATF officials didn’t intend to publicly disclose their own role in letting Mexican cartels obtain the weapons, but emails show they discussed using the sales, including sales encouraged by ATF, to justify a new gun regulation called “Demand Letter 3″. That would require some U.S. gun shops to report the sale of multiple rifles or “long guns.” Demand Letter 3 was so named because it would … Read entire article »

Sell Your Cloak, Buy A Sword

In 1991, former President Reagan threw his support behind the Brady Bill – a relapse on his Mulford Act stance which disallowed Californians from carrying guns in cars, or public places.  It was George H.W. Bush who banned the import of assault weapons and paid homage to the 1968 Gun Control Act which stated that guns must “be generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes.”  Reagan’s conversion to gun control may have had something to do with his being shot by Hinckley or because his press secretary Jim Brady (for whom the bill is named) was shot beside him.  Originally the idea was that if Hinckley had been forced to go through a background check prior to buying his gun, the psychological red flags would have … Read entire article »
