Republicans lied to us

It’s been some time since I have written anything.  Like most of you, I’ve been busy with life.  I felt compelled to write something after the whole health care debacle that occurred last week in the House because it stirred something inside of me.  So on with it. Since the founding of our nation, the great debate has been and is the role government should play in the lives of its citizens.  This debate drove the architects of our Constitution to find a balance that would give the federal government just enough powers to secure and protect the liberties of its citizens while granting most governing powers to the states and the people.  Alexander Hamilton actually believed we should have a king, while Patrick Henry was extremely wary of government in … Read entire article »

Why Obama and the Democrats are going to lose the Medicare debate…

Nancy Pelosi once said of Obamacare that we had to pass it so we can find out what’s in it.  Well one of the big stink bombs that the Democrats don’t want to talk about is the massive cuts they made to Medicare when they passed Obamacare.  These cuts were designed to keep Obamacare deficit neutral and was a key provision that helped both the House and Senate pass the the bill in March 2010.  In fact in the below video President Obama stated that he would veto the bill if there was any attempt to undo the cuts to Medicare. Check it out. So how have the Democrats received a free pass for so long in regards to the massive cuts they made to Medicare when they passed Obamacare?  How … Read entire article »

Paul Ryan and Medicare: It’s time for some grownup talk

I knew from the moment that Mitt Romney announced Paul Ryan as his running mate the left was going to paint Ryan as an extremist who wants to destroy Medicare and push grandma off the cliff.  In a “these aren’t the droids you’re looking for” moment DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz attempts to use a Jedi mind trick on CNN’s Wolf Blitzer in the below clip.  Fortunately Mr. Blitzer was not weak minded in this instance and was able to resist her feeble attempts to pull the wool over his eyes.  Take a look at the below clip. How pathetic was that?  I mean I actually started to feel bad for her.  She reached a point where she was just shooting from the hip and making it up as she … Read entire article »

Teeing it up: A Round at the LINKs (Ryan edition)

Yesterday I got caught up in life and did not have an opportunity to post my weekly’ ” Round at the LINKs.”  So I’m a day off but better late than never.  Today I want to touch on Paul Ryan a bit.  I know most of my fellow bloggers have already posted great articles on this topic.  I want to weigh in with my own two cents.  As most of you know during the Republican primary I supported Ron Paul.  I supported Ron Paul because I believe it’s going to take something radical to change the business as usual crowd mindset in D.C. and get us back to our founding principles.  Back during the primaries the only candidate that offered this stark contrast was Ron Paul.  Love him or hate … Read entire article »

President Obama calls it Social Darwinism; I call it liberty…

This past week when President Obama stated that Paul Ryan’s budget proposal was “thinly veiled social Darwinism.”  In an attempt to understand exactly the context in which he was using the term Social Darwinism, I watched his speech again.  After all Social Darwinism has such a negative connotation that surrounds it I wanted to make sure I got it right.  So based on my observation he is stating that Paul Ryan’s plan promotes individualism and free market principles that rewards the successful for their efforts and actions.  This in-turn creates a larger inequality gap in America because where there are winners there are also losers.  I think I got that right.  Well this would explain why he has such disdain for it.  He doesn’t believe that individualism and the free … Read entire article »

Paul Ryan: What real leadership looks like

Folks, we had better start listening to Paul Ryan, because we’re heading down the same road as Greece and very soon our debt is going to spiral out of control. It will reach a tipping point and we won’t be able to do anything to stop it. It’s an election year and both sides appear to be playing politics with our future. They don’t want to deal with this debt crisis because it’s the silly season when politicians paint a picture of rainbows and unicorns for the electorate. They want us feeling good about ourselves and buying into the empty promises they’re trying to sell us. Paul Ryan is one of the few elected official in Washington these days who is daring to stand on principles and tell the American … Read entire article »

Scare Tactics: How to kill the Medicare debate

This morning I watched Neil Cavuto’s opening segment on his show and you could hear the frustration in his voice about the state of the Medicare debate.  In my opinion if you don’t realize by now that our entitlement programs are unsustainable you’re living on another planet.  We must begin to take steps to reform or gradually phase them out. The time has come for us to treat these issues as a threat to our national security.  It’s time for a serious adult conversation about them and for putting aside political rhetoric.  Just over a month ago Paul Ryan stepped up to the plate with a modest proposal to address the sustainability problems with our entitlement programs.  He was immediately attacked from both the right and left.  The left screamed … Read entire article »
